I used to have EAP coverage at work.
They gave everyone five free sessions per year with an umbrella company that did CBT.
The purpose was to get stressed-out employees back to work, or keep them from leaving.
Personally, I hated them -- but I hate all CBT.

It's worth looking into though.
That's actually a good idea.

With mine there was a phone number with my employee benefits information booklet.
They only see people from your specific employer or group of affiliated companies.

I'm not sure CBT would be good for me either. I don't have a workplace problem. Our company had some mandatory tolerance training courses, I feel like that had elements of CBT.

I had the kind of problems you're describing. I was diagnosed by my GP as having generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). I was put on a benzodiazepine (basically xanax) and a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (basically Zoloft). My doctor had been trying to get me to start taking an (SSRI) before I started having extreme symptoms, which I figure means he saw it coming. The SSRI did the trick eventually. I had to get through a side effect period first. But I'm on the extra sensitive side when it comes to mood or pain medication. Looking back I should have started out with smaller doses than prescribed. This happened back in 2008-9.

On top of that I have something that gives me fake heart attacks. My brother has the same exact issue. In his case it turned out to be atrial fibrillation (A-fib) and he was put on a calcium channel blocker. In my case I tested negative for A-fib. My GP put me on a Bata blocker and that did the trick. But unlike you I also have hypertension.

I came across a disorder called Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome.

See if you can get an echocardiogram stress test or a nuclear medicine stress test. I did and it showed that my heart and cardiovascular system are fine, which removed a lot of worry.

I'm thinking my brother and I have that or some similar non-life threatening pain in the ass condition that only feels like impending death.

The last time I had a bad episode of whatever it is, I tried CBD oil in capsule form and it got worse afterwards. But maybe that's because I took a full dose the first time instead of starting out with a small dose and building it up.

^ Thanks Matrix. I stay out of this thread when I feel better. To tell you the truth I had relief for many months when my life was looking up... It's definitely mental, reoccurring intrusive thoughts. Some disturbing events took place in my life and I'm having difficulty coping, as I don't have a way to escape.

That said... I'm very anxious this evening.
