Maybe if he had made that statement three weeks ago, the Jan 6 committee wouldn't have felt the walls closing in on them as much.
If they feel their being closed in on, it's because congressional Republicans have displayed loyalty to President and party over country and constitution.
I think it's simply that Americans don't like the direction the democrats are taking the country in.
