I've been trying to find a hippie song on YouTube since the beginning of the summer. It goes like this.

I take it that you dont recall ANY actual words in the song?

Just the tune?

Right as rain. I just know the tune. The words aren't really that clear to me.

The only words I remember are "The way you look with your red headband."

It has a similar melody to the one you're humming, and its from the era, and it's a "hippie song" if there ever was one. But I dont see how you could have missed the obvious chorus line about "San Francisco". So maybe it isnt the one you're looking for. But here is a possibility.

"Aldorado" is not a "thing" in the world.

But "El Derado" IS a thing. A legendary cache of gold left by the Indians in the mountain jungles of South America that Spanish conquistadors hoped to find. It became an expression for any windfall find, or impossible goal, like finding treasure. There was a car model called "El Derado". And there was a Sixties western movie starring John Wayne of that title. And it had a theme song. And the more recent Disney animation "the Emperor's New Groove" set in the Incan Empire of old has a song of that name.

But I doubt thats what you're looking for.

Here is a stab in the dark...maybe you're thinking of "Desperado". Seventies hit for the Eagles, and later also for Linda Ronstadt.

That's a great song, but it's a different song. Perhaps I should put the song I'm seeking on the back burner for now and enjoy the music that I've discovered over the past 6 years. It will pop up on YouTube when I least expect it.

This is probably not your song but to me is the best representation of hippie ideals.

Other hippie classics
This song was big on the hippie/freeform/progressive rock stations

There are tons of em. Some come off as goofy and dated today.

But some still stand up as awesome today.
