An autistic guy whom I know at a day program keeps asking a staff member everyday to have her help him with his computer. He goes every Tuesday. How do I get him to stop?

Just a very polite and considerate word in his ear I spose.
If you come down too heavy he might not want to come to the day centre again.

Okay. What should I say to him in a polite way?

If he needs help with his computer why should he stop asking? Are you in charge of him or the computer? Otherwise, why do you need to make him stop? Is it really your concern?

She gets out of her seat everyday to just help him when he couldn’t do on his own.

I wonder if he's attracted to her on a physical &/or mental level & is creating a way to spend time with her hoping that he might get the courage to ask her out & she'll accept :? It's not uncommon for guys in general to create excuses to spend time with women we''re attracted to & us autistic guys can be a lot more clueless about starting relationships. If this is the case, it would probably help to tell him that it's agaist the rules for staff members to date clients even if it's not an official policy.

If the staff member doesn't care then there's no reason to try to stop him. Maybe he actually needs help, or maybe it's just part of his routine now to ask her, but if she doesn't mind and chooses to help him out then it's not a problem. It's also really none of your business and it doesn't really matter if it personally annoys you, you can just choose to ignore him and the issue seems to be that you're choosing not to do that.

Is this the same person with whom you are obsessed in this other thread?

You might be better off to mind your own business.

Asking a staff member for help with his computer seems like a good thing to me.

That doesn’t seem like much of a problem.

Occasionally, people who are working do have to get out of their seats. It’s a sad fact of life…
