Welcome toe WP! And I think it is great to accept oneself as-is but nonetheless desire more information.
I got around to it much later than you did. I was comfortably retired and completely without a clue on it until I was 64...and I got my diagnosis before my 65
th birthday and I was delighted because it explained so much.
But it didn't really change anything except one thing. Whenever my bride bumps up against on of my Aspie traits I get to say:
<=>"I have a doctor's note for that!"
She was tired of hearing that before we'd even left the psychologist's office.
