It would seem Chile is following the general anti=progressive movements across the rest of Latin America and the rest of the western world

Gender parity across government and other organs of the state – for the first time anywhere in the world – prioritised environmental protection and recognised Chile’s Indigenous peoples for the first time in the country’s history.

That the population want to cling onto Augusto Pinochet's legacy suggest Chile is imitating the USA who seem enamoured with another right wing tyrant.
