Probably literally the only time ever a teacher got paid well.

I remember feeling terrible for our teacher when he would buy tools for our club with his credit card, then wait forever to be reimbursed by the school, if ever.
I was poor-ish myself back then.

Yeah, my pay is less than ideal.

Stop using proper pronouns and settle.

I will probably sue the school at some point but not over something like this.

If a boy wants to be called “she,” I would just say “okay.”

Maybe she’ll change her mind in a few days; maybe she won’t.

And if she does, you would say "Whoops!"?

With so many hundreds of custom pronouns to memorize so I don't offend anyone, I find myself unable and unwilling to connect with anyone. In the past, it was I who was different from everyone else that nobody wanted to attempt to make a connection with me. Now it's everyone else is too different from me.

With pronouns like xim/xer/xey/xem...

What is that even supposed to mean?

I don’t think that kids frequently make choices like this willy-nilly. Usually, young people who come out as trans are still trans years later.

Quote:
The data come from the Trans Youth Project, a well-known effort following 317 children across the United States and Canada who underwent a so-called social transition between ages of 3 and 12. Participants transitioned, on average, at age 6.5.

The vast majority of the group still identified with their new gender five years later

How are you running into “hundreds” of them? Most people will only know a couple people (or maybe a few). If you are capable of remembering their names, you can probably remember their pronouns.

This is WAY overblown IMO.

I have trans family members who did surgical transition.
No regrets from either one of them.

I blame Tik Tok.

As with anything else, specific sound combinations don’t have innate meaning. There’s no reason why “tree” should represent a tree. People give the sound combinations that we call words meaning.

New words are created all the time.

There was once a man I talked to at a munch few years back, I can't even remember his name. I can't remember other people's names either other than couple of them.

I even forget usernames online all the time. There are so many of them. Only a few will stand out where I never forget their name.

I'd number people if I had the choice. I remember numbers well.

Teachers are expected to remember their students names as well as IEP/504 information, etc. They are expected to remember pronouns, too. Perhaps if one struggles an inordinate amount with this stuff, they might want to consider another profession.

When I met my now-husband, I remembered the town he was from and what he studied and where and million other things about him - but it took me 4 months to remember his name.
Yep, some of us just have this kind of memory.
I'm not a school teacher and students at Uni didn't expect me to remember their names :D

My native language has completely different construction of grammatical gender, so I don't encounter the pronoun problem IRL. It's different in Polish. Pronouns are not really problematic (they have to match the grammar of the sentence, not the person's identity), but gendered first person verbs don't exist in neutral form so far. I wonder if something "sticks" the way "they" ultimately seems to "stick" in English.

I thought they constantly check like I would. Check your student's IEP always.
