On the bright side, you could go anywhere because EVERYWHERE is hiring!
I know you are being kind when you say this, but I’ve sent out at least 25-30 applications in my hometown and elsewhere.
Most of them have no decency to reply back. They just say nothing. Some give me a rejection email. Once or twice they give me an interview and I don’t get the job.
Everywhere is hiring, but they aren’t hiring me.
I suppose it depends on the industry.
When I work in construction, companies can put ads out and get zero applications, so literally almost anyone willing to show up and lift materials & tools may be given a shot. And if it doesn't work out for them, virtually every other construction company in every other trade is also hiring so they can have another job arranged within a day or two. Same goes for almost all manual labour jobs - the more physical they are, the easier the job is to get. Trick is to pick a Skilled Labour job, because then at least you'll earn a decent wage over time vs. just be a mule for low pay forever.
When I worked in an office and posted job ads seeking a new accountant to hire, I had a couple hundred+ applications to read through. Everyone wants some kind of cushy office job at a keyboard instead of doing real work (Force in Newtons x distance in metres = Work in joules) so there's a HUGE difference between seeking a cushy job riding a desk and getting your hands dirty building offices.
Here, due to the supply and demand of educated people vs. skilled people, for average office jobs vs. average construction jobs, it pays better to build things. It's only if you're up nearer to the top of the office job world that you'll earn more than a tradesman.
