My boss at the outback steakhouse called me into the office..

He told me that I could be fired for requiring accomodations in scheduling here at outback steakhouse in order to fit time, with being a psychic medium therapist.

Outback Steakhouse does not recognize a psychic as employment..
He said he understands that the job does pay, but legally I might as well have accomodations for time twiddling my thumbs or being a witch doctor or playing video games or making paper airplanes.

And that if outback steakhouse needs me at work in the kitchen..
That will either come first..
Or I'm fired.
There will be no accomodations if I am needed.

My other job will not be considered a job.

:P

Why exactly is it their business where else you work?

Because my job at the psychic center has no legal standing, unless I put "entertainer" as my second job which is a legal way around it...
Because I'm not part of a food service union to represent me at outback.

Well. That's rude.

I'm a Christian where such things are forbidden.
I did take a look at some astrology stuff just to see if it really was a bad idea and it turned out bad, I got verbally harassed by someone to show that its definetly not allowed

I can get time off to visit a wiccan temple under the 1st amendment..
What I do would be a hobby or a job as an entertainer..

I just can't put the exact words "psychic therapist" as a reason..

Unless I volunteer to put outback first before my "hobby".

I wonder which will do better during the recession...(the steakhouse or the psychic)

My job just offered me a 401k with matching (finally), I recall those didn't do great after 2007. I set one up in 2018 at my last job, the market was favorable for investing back then, now I dunno what I'd select. Real estate and art seem like a good bet though.

Here's an idea :!: If your employer knows that your on the spectrum or have other disabilities, you could try saying that you need a consistent predictable scedule due to you not handeling unexpected changes well. Autism, Anxiety, OCD & other disabilities quailify you to have reasonable acomedations under the Disabilities Act. If Outback would be willing to accomedate scedules for official 2nd jobs, you could argue that not accomedating your scedule is discrimination against your disabilities

Stuff like this is why when I was a kid frustrated adults told me I should be a lawyer when I grow up. I use my logic to find the loopholes & when I was in trouble I would find holes in others stories & theories

Even if your other job was in fact twiddling your thumbs live on a webcam and people paid you to do it it’d still be another job with a schedule to maintain.

I don’t get how any employer can state that the type of job you do for additional income dictates whether or not they’ll accommodate it with your scheduling.

Even when I worked at McDonald’s as a teenager you’d let them know your availability and then they’d schedule within it. Of course if you’re availability is too restricted they might not be too happy and they might use it as a partial reason to get rid of someone, but whether someone has another job, a sport they play, college classes, kids or pets etc it’s none of their f’n business wtf you do when you’re unavailable to work for them.

Also, the restaurant industry is really hurting for staff these days and will hire anyone and accommodate dammed near anything in order to have someone vs no one. Is it the same where you are? If so, doesn’t seem like the management have any negotiating power about your availability.. because if they’re dicks about it you can walk down the street and have job offers from multiple other restaurants willing to accommodate your availability.
