Spongebob has been locked up before thou. The majority of the time it was due to one of Plankton's schemes & Krabs got him out.

it's okay to have crushes on fictional characters as long as they are characters. I used to always make the mistake of getting crushes on non characters

TBH, I think it's more likely that she was stepping out on Mario and rather annoyed at him for breaking it up. Which, I totally get, as Mario and Luigi have a very weird relationship that nobody should ever think too hard about.
