Doing my orientation for a part time class in film set construction this evening!

Also, just bought myself a new to me vehicle - a JDM Toyota van.

And Friday night I was able to visit my deceased friend’s mom & meet his daughter. For the third year running I handed mama $600 to make sure his 2 girls have a good Christmas. 8)

Today is my oldest nephew’s 17th birthday. (Or 18?)

I got to see one of my 15yo God son’s yesterday evening for a late night bbq dinner. 8)

My dad’s cancer/heart condition is def gonna kill him, BUT despite doing another round of chemo rn he feels totally fine which is AMAZING!

My uncle said I could park my car at his house for the winter if I need storage for it before I sell it. And I might not need to find a buyer as my neighbour said one of her kids might be interested - in which case I told her I’ll sell it for $1000 less than whatever people are asking for them in the moment, which I’m totally cool with because my neighbours have been so amazing to my parents for the last 15 years.

I have concert tickets to Merkules @ The Commodore Ballroom this Friday night! BEST local rapper at arguably The Best live music venue in Vancouver. 8)

Probably more if I really stop to think about it, but those things come to mind right now. Grateful for this thread to remind me of what’s going well!

That is such a lot of good news, Goldfish! :D Yes. The world is pretty grim right now, we need a bit of light.

I forgot a major piece of good news.

The Australian soap, Neighbours, is coming back after being cancelled a few months ago. It is a totally silly programme, exactly what we need in these frightening days of the world. Looking forward to that next summer!

And also, it will be available in America and Canada! If you want complete escapism, get on the Neighbours train!

He doesn't have insurance there yet, and his is cancelled here.
It would have meant at least a year here at home, to get it reinstated and go through the steps.
He would have lost his AUS work visa (and his home, job, partner, car ... )

His boss paid for him to see a specialist there.
Crisis averted.

What a relief! What a lovely boss! Some people are nice.

Yes, an angel.
It was something like $18,000 to have the scan and see a specialist.

Jeez! A super-boss!

That is the type of healthcare coming to Britain soon, it seems. Argh.

So my good news:

I got a pack of 5 tops that I've wanted for a while.

I did a lot of work on my fanfic today.

I posted some Christmas parcels off.

I found out my oldest friend who I've known since school when we were aged 5, but I've lost touch with her, is now a Grandma! So exciting!

My mother seems satisfied with her Home Health Aide.

Is that a person or some equipment?

A person. Home Health Aides are sort of like CNA's---but they work in the home, rather than a hospital.

I don't know what a CNA is either

We used to have Home Helps in Britain I think, but the government stopped funding them long ago :x

Certified Nursing Assistant.

CNA's are just below Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN's) on the Health Care Continuum.

That's very informative, thanks.

A friend of mine with two adult autistic sons living at home with her says she used to get lots of visits from healthcare assistants to help her with them but that has tailed off now and she gets nothing. That's the state of healthcare in Britain today

The unfortunate thing is that my mother is only entitled to free Home Health Aides because she is on hospice.

But it's good news that she seems satisfied with her aide.

I wish your friend could have some sort of "respite." I've read there is "respite" in the UK.

I think my friend gets some respite but not as much as she used to. She has changed her political party as a result and will vote differently at the next election, hooray!

Good news:

My cold/flu seems to be receding, even though I barely slept last night due to coughing.

I was going to do lots of cleaning before Christmas but due to being ill I just said s0d it and didn't do it. My husband and daughter can help out.

There's such a lot of nice Christmas TV on tonight, including All Creatures Great and Small Christmas Special. I love that show. I remember the 1970s/80s version and loved that too.
