Why do you ask, are you planning to eat the cat food if there's a catastrophic human food shortage or it becomes too expensive? Because I really don't recommend something not intended for human consumption. :eew:

I've been feeding my cat wet cat food once a day now but I can't even stand to touch it. Sometime a drop of it gets on my hand when I open the can and my whole body feels contaminated until I wash it off. I really don't know why.

^ I think the OP has a pet cat. Yeah, can cat food is rather gross. If there's any food shortage, I'd rather go foraging in the forest or something. There are actually lots of edible plants in the wild. Some even taste good.

I think any can food last really long, often beyond the expiry date.

As long as the tin has not been opened it should last a while but within reason. If it is ages past its date then probably best to buy more instead.
