I've been reading up on trans issues lately. Several Reuters news stories:

- Trailblazing Brazilian trans lawmakers face more conservative Congress by Steven Grattan, October 6, 2022.

Meanwhile, here in the U.S.A.:

- Republicans in Congress lay groundwork for anti-transgender push by Moira Warburton and Rose Horowitch, July 14, 2022

- Putting numbers on the rise in children seeking gender care by Robin Respaut and Chad Terhune, Oct. 6, 2022

- As more transgender children seek medical care, families confront many unknowns by Chad Terhune, Robin Respaut, and Michelle Conlin, Oct. 6, 2022.

I'll post some quotes and comments later.

See also my separate threads Question about history of the word "transgender" (in the "LBBT Discussion" section of this board) and Trans feminist writer Julia Serano (here in PPR).

This study only looked at people who started hormones at age 16 up until they were 19 (median age) for AFAB and 14-20 for AMAB. (https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanchi/article/PIIS2352-4642(22)00254-1/fulltext)

It doesn't really shed any light on how many would regret or desist later in life. For example, Keira Bell was around 21-22 when she started to detransition. (https://www.persuasion.community/p/keira-bell-my-story).
