Some wombles have a dark and shady past.

I remember seeing these creatures on the French CBC channel when they aired various children's cartoon shorts (in French)

Being a Yank... I thought that you were posting on drugs. And that you had 'wombats' confused with 'muskrats'. Was gonna explain to you that "I dont know what wombats do, but I know that muskrats 'ramble', and not 'womble'.

^ The Wombles was a British stop-motion children's programme. Wombles helped the environment by collecting and recycling rubbish in creative ways.

Not to be confused with The WOMBLES (White Overalls Movement Building Libertarian Effective Struggles) who were a loosely aligned anarchist and anti-capitalist group based in London. They gained prominence in the early 2000s for wearing white overalls with padding and helmets at May Day protests, mimicking the Italian group Tute Bianche.

^Louis Armstrong... is now your ear worm?

Could be worse. Better anything by Satchmo than "Baby Shark".

Actually I am the one who was bit confused. I had Muskrat Ramble confused with this song:

I looked up Wombles on Wiki. I thought they were hedgehogs or something, but they're fictional creatures. i was surprised to learn they're almost human sized, I thought they were the size of hedgehogs or cats. They take rubbish left by humans and recycle it into useful things. They live all over the world but the stories and animation are mostly about the Wombles that live on the Wimbledon Common in the UK. The creator got the idea for Wombles when her daughter kept mispronouncing Wimbledon as "Wombledon".

Every day, learn something new.

Another good version.

But how can this become an 'ear worm' on one listening? Its so complicated and so syncopated that you cant even hum it.

Its not simple like the "the Achy Breaky Heart".

When I hit pause and TRY to remember the melody I cant. Though part of it is that its similar to the tune of another song I know. In my head "Muskrat Ramble" turns into "the Fixin to Die Rag" by Country Joe and the Fish (a late Sixties anti war rock song).
