I wouldn't go to any in "a pink fit".

On one hand I'm very glad that she doesn't have to spend life in a hellhole of a prison in Russia. I wouldn't wish such a thing on anybody.
But on the other hand I don't have that much sympathy for her. Even though she was using marijuana for medical purposes (I have no problem with that) she really should have known better than to bring it into a country where it's outlawed. Especially one as draconian in their laws as Russia.
There's been many stories in the news over time about Americans who travel abroad thinking they can break the laws in other countries and that their own country will simply bail them out of trouble. That bothers me.
I just would never go to countries with draconian laws. There was that guy who went to Qatar with pride gear. Like, why would he even want to go there???But on the other hand I don't have that much sympathy for her. Maybe suicidal or just plain stupid?

While I'm glad she's out, I still don't have any sympathy for her as she should have checked the laws first before going to Russia, or any other foreign country. In fact, I hope other US citizens learn from this to avoid all travel to Russia, and to check the laws of the foreign country you plan to visit.

I thought this was self-evident.
Even prescripted medication may not be allowed in some countries.
"Due Diligence" is required.

She was prescribed medical marijuana by a doctor to treat knee pain. I am not sure if she travelled before to Russia with a cannabis vape but if she had then that would probably explain why she was carrying it without declaring it had cannabis.

I imagine she has learned a valuable lesson. Don't play Russian roulette.

Meanwhile, Viktor Butt for whom she was exchanged, joined a party with a funny name: "Liberal Democratic Party of Russia".
It's cute how Russians maintain their tradition of naming things with the opposite of what these things are.
I admit the practice is more widespread - nevertheless, Kremlin mastered it centuries ago

Yes. From the link they seem to be about restoring the Russian monarchy, but with 'constitutional limits', BUT not like the British constitutional monarchy (in which the king reigns, but democratically elected pols run the country)... they favor a Mussolini type dictator actually running the country. Niether liberal nor democratic. And apparently not even a party - they seem to be a loyal mouthpiece of the Kremlin and not a real opposition party.

Big mistake.
10 months' worth.

At least the title "The Ministry of Truth" in 1984 was accurate.
