I'm a woman who was adult diagnosed recently with moderated severity autism at 19. This my mother knows.

I'm also gay. This my mother doesn't know. I plan to tell them when I'm economically dependent so I can cut ties if needed. I don't think mom would react much negatively by herself, she would be upset but wouldn't kick me from home, but I fear she would tell my fascist father. She just follows his opinions as well, which worries me a lot. I can see she does so with reluctancy because she tiptoes around me on "political" topics but the brainwashing damage is just so apparent when she talks to someone she feels safe saying this s**t to. Don't judge her too harshly, we're both abuse victims.

I'm seeking films that are primarily about autism. Good films about autism, or average films with queer or domestic violence sub-themes.

I think some Alan Turing biography that overplays autistic traits would be nice. The man was maaaaybe autistic, gay, and suffered a thousand-times cruel fate because of the later. I still don't know any films about Alan Turing though.

I want this because she's knee-deep in quantum woo and I want to get a more clinical/"this is my life" lens before she enters the "buy special bath salt to cure autism" loophole.

I suspect none of these are exactly what you are looking for but some of the better movies I know of about Autistics are:

=>- Adam [2009]
=>- Mozart and the Whale [2005]
=>- Snow Cake [2006]

and, of course:

=>- Temple Grandin [2010]

And, for Alan Turing, I think you might want to check:

=>- The Imitation Game [2014]

Perhaps In A Different Key [2020]...which is more from the viewpoint of someone who is not Autistic but is close to the Autistic.

Also mentioned in the Autism Politics, Activism, and Media Representation forum.

Atypical: Not so much about the main character's autism, but his sister Casey's storyline as she comes out.

Parenthood (TV Series):

There's a very good story about an autistic boy Max, and his parents coming to terms with diagnosis.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3HpvjZS4kQ&t=55s ^

His sister comes out during the story. I can't find many scenes about her except this:

In addition to Max there's the story of an adult man Hank, being diagnosed as autistic:

I'm totally in love with him as a character. ^
