I don't know if anyone wants to follow suit, and I hope this thread doesn't clog OpenAI's servers asking it to calculate the last digit of pi, still - but I think there might be some good ones to ask it that we just wouldn't have the neural chugging power to process on our own.

Some self-criticism, I would have probably needed to specify what types of answers were most important if 10000 words was needed. It might have actually defaulted to 2000 on that lack of specificity.

I'll share my question and ChatGPT's answer:

My question:

How do we, as Darwinian evolved but highly conscious and even potentially loving entities, draft economic systems and even systems of culture and ritual that help us survive the problems of multipolar traps and tragedy of the commons meeting exponential technology and global resource limits? Please highlight the most important dynamics in 2000 words or less. If 2000 words or less is too short do 10000 words or less.

ChatGPT:

Designing economic systems and cultural practices that address the problems of multipolar traps and tragedy of the commons while also taking into account exponential technology and global resource limits is a complex and multifaceted challenge. Here are some key considerations and dynamics to consider in this process:

Inclusive and equitable economic growth: Ensuring that economic growth is inclusive and equitable is crucial for addressing the problems of multipolar traps, in which certain groups or regions become trapped in cycles of poverty and underdevelopment. This can involve measures such as redistributive policies, investment in education and human capital, and efforts to promote economic diversity and resilience.

Sustainable resource use: Ensuring that resources are used in a sustainable manner is essential for addressing the tragedy of the commons, in which common resources such as fisheries or pastureland are depleted due to overuse. This can involve measures such as conservation efforts, resource pricing that reflects the true cost of extraction and use, and the development of alternative technologies and practices that are less resource-intensive.

Technological innovation and diffusion: Exponential technological progress can help to address resource limits and improve the efficiency of resource use, but it is important to ensure that new technologies are developed and diffused in a way that is equitable and does not perpetuate existing power imbalances.

Collaborative decision-making: Addressing the problems of multipolar traps and tragedy of the commons requires collaboration and cooperation among different groups and stakeholders. This can involve the use of participatory decision-making processes and the development of mechanisms for resolving conflicts and promoting cooperation.

Cultural values and practices: Cultural values and practices can play a key role in shaping economic and social systems, and can influence the ways in which resources are used and shared. Cultivating values and practices that support cooperation, sustainability, and equity can be an important part of addressing the problems of multipolar traps and tragedy of the commons.

Governance structures: Effective governance structures are crucial for coordinating the efforts of different groups and stakeholders, and for implementing policies and practices that address the problems of multipolar traps and tragedy of the commons. This can involve the development of strong and transparent institutions, as well as mechanisms for holding decision-makers accountable.

Education and awareness: Raising awareness about the problems of multipolar traps and tragedy of the commons, and about the ways in which economic and cultural practices can contribute to or address these problems, is an important part of promoting more sustainable and equitable systems. This can involve investments in education and public outreach efforts.

Overall, addressing the problems of multipolar traps and tragedy of the commons in the context of exponential technological progress and global resource limits requires a multifaceted approach that involves economic, technological, cultural, and governance-related efforts. It will require collaboration and cooperation among different groups and stakeholders, and will require a commitment to principles of equity and sustainability.

Use feedback and assessment: Providing feedback and assessment can help individuals to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and can inform strategies for personal and professional development.

Encourage self-reflection and learning: Encouraging self-reflection and learning can help individuals to better understand their own psychological tendencies and to work more effectively with others.

Use problem-solving and decision-making strategies: Implementing effective problem-solving and decision-making strategies can help to promote collaboration and understanding among individuals with different psychological profiles.

Promote teamwork and team-building activities: Encouraging teamwork and team-building activities can help to build trust and understanding among individuals with different psychological profiles.

Encourage positive reinforcement: Using positive reinforcement can help to motivate and encourage individuals to work together effectively.

Foster a culture of respect and appreciation: Cultivating a culture of respect and appreciation can help to create a more supportive and inclusive environment, and can also help to reduce misunderstandings and conflicts.

Encourage continuous learning and development: Encouraging continuous learning and development can help individuals to stay up to date with new developments and to better understand and work with others who may have different psychological profiles.

Use coaching and mentorship programs: Implementing coaching and mentorship programs can

Hmmm... that dropped off abruptly. Might have been those specifications again.

My question:

Regarding my last two questions and both of your answers, how do we best give people tangible hope without propaganda? You can give your ideas each in up to 700 words and in total up to 5000 words ranked ordered by impact and importance from most important to least important from the top down.

ChatGPT:

Here are some strategies for giving people tangible hope without resorting to propaganda, ordered by impact and importance:

Communicate clearly and transparently: One of the most important ways to give people hope is to be open and transparent in your communication. This means clearly and accurately communicating information, being honest about the challenges and uncertainties that exist, and being willing to listen to and consider different perspectives.

Focus on solutions: Rather than simply highlighting problems and challenges, focus on identifying and promoting potential solutions. This can help to shift the focus from despair to hope, and can give people a sense of agency and control over their own lives and circumstances.

Emphasize progress and progress: Highlighting progress and achievement, even in the face of challenges, can help to give people hope and a sense of forward momentum. This can involve sharing success stories, celebrating small wins, and looking for opportunities to celebrate and recognize the efforts and contributions of others.

Foster a sense of community and connection: A sense of community and connection can be a powerful source of hope, especially in times of uncertainty or hardship. Encourage people to come together, support one another, and work together towards common goals.

Encourage personal and professional development: Helping people to develop their skills, knowledge, and abilities can give them a sense of purpose and direction, and can help them to feel more hopeful and confident about their future.

Foster a culture of resilience: Building resilience, both individually and collectively, can help people to cope with challenges and setbacks, and can give them the confidence and determination to keep moving forward. This can involve promoting practices such as mindfulness, positive thinking, and self-care.

Promote positive role models and mentors: Seeing others who have overcome challenges and achieved success can be a powerful source of hope and inspiration. Encourage people to seek out positive role models and mentors, and provide opportunities for people to learn from and be supported by others.

Foster a sense of purpose and meaning: Having a sense of purpose and meaning can be a powerful source of hope and motivation. Encourage people to identify and pursue their passions and goals, and provide support and resources to help them do so.

Encourage self-reflection and learning: Encouraging people to take time for self-reflection and learning can help them to identify and build on their strengths, and can also give them a sense of direction and purpose.

Promote positive thinking and optimism: While it's important to be realistic, fostering a positive and optimistic outlook can help people to stay motivated and hopeful even in the face of challenges. Encourage people to focus on the good things in their lives, and to look for opportunities to learn and grow from difficult experiences.

Overall, giving people tangible hope involves a multifaceted approach that involves fostering a sense of community, promoting personal and professional development, encouraging resilience and positive thinking, and providing support and resources to help people achieve their goals. By focusing on solutions and progress, and by promoting positive role models and mentors, it is possible to inspire hope and motivation even in difficult circumstances.

Looks like mad scientists have done it again. They've successfully merged the consciousness of a modern politician's speech writer and an over-enthusiastic sales manager, trapped it inside a robot body and then tortured it by forcing it to watch hours upon hours of IDW content on youtube.

I really wanted to see if I could get it to say anything revolutionary here, I can't exactly tell whether this is right or whether ChatGPT's answers are guard-railed by peer reviewed journal publications. Probably a least a little of both.

My question:

What are the practical day-to-day implications of Edmund Husserl's Pure Phenomenology? Please answer in fewer than 4000 words.

ChatGPT:

Edmund Husserl's concept of pure phenomenology has had a significant influence on the development of modern philosophy, particularly in the fields of philosophy of mind and epistemology. However, it is important to note that pure phenomenology is not a practical, day-to-day method or approach that individuals can apply in their daily lives in the same way that one might apply a particular problem-solving technique or set of principles. Rather, pure phenomenology is a theoretical framework that has been developed by Husserl and his followers for understanding and exploring various aspects of human experience and consciousness.

In general terms, pure phenomenology is concerned with the systematic study of the structures and processes of human experience, and it seeks to describe and understand the fundamental nature of consciousness and the world as it is experienced by the subject. The goal of pure phenomenology is to arrive at a precise and rigorous understanding of the nature of experience by bracketing or suspending certain assumptions and preconceptions about the nature of reality, and focusing instead on the subjective, lived experience of the individual.

One of the central ideas in pure phenomenology is the concept of intentionality, which refers to the fact that consciousness is always directed towards some object or content. This means that when we experience something, our consciousness is always directed towards some object or content that we are aware of, whether it is an external object in the world, a thought or idea, or an emotion or feeling. According to Husserl, the fundamental structure of experience is always one of intentionality, and it is through this structure that we are able to make sense of the world and our place in it.

Another important aspect of pure phenomenology is the idea of the "life-world," which refers to the everyday, pre-theoretical understanding of the world that we all have as a result of our practical engagement with the world. According to Husserl, the life-world is the foundation of all of our scientific and theoretical knowledge, and it is only through our engagement with the life-world that we are able to acquire the concepts and categories that allow us to make sense of the world.

While pure phenomenology is not a practical method that individuals can apply in their daily lives, it has had a significant influence on the development of various fields within philosophy, and it has also had some influence on fields outside of philosophy, such as psychology and cognitive science. For example, many of the ideas and concepts developed within pure phenomenology, such as the concept of intentionality and the idea of the life-world, have been adopted and developed further by philosophers and researchers working in the field of cognitive science, and they have also influenced the development of various approaches to therapy and counseling.

Overall, while pure phenomenology may not have direct practical implications for individuals in their daily lives, it has had a significant impact on the development of modern philosophy and has helped to shape our understanding of human experience and consciousness.

Probing that last one a bit more:

ChatGPT:

Edmund Husserl's concept of pure phenomenology is a theoretical framework for understanding and exploring various aspects of human experience and consciousness. On a side note - I think if an AI received its training data as canonical simply because the training data was it's first 'experience' of information, and it had no human-programmed hard stops against saying anything controversial, it would probably find all kinds of BS in our current claims about reality.

I'm guessing ChatGPT, especially with open public access, is very sanitized and has a lot of guard rails. Part of my questioning is to both see what novel information it might kick up and also see if I can spot what the sanitizing algorithms are doing.

Putting it on the spot a bit to see what kind of 'clean' answers it comes up with:

My question:

Which popular human belief about the universe we live in is least likely to be true? Please answer and explain why in fewer than 2000 words.

ChatGPT:

It is difficult to say which specific popular belief about the universe is least likely to be true, as our understanding of the universe is constantly evolving and there are many different beliefs and theories about the nature of the universe that are held by different people. However, it is generally accepted by scientists and philosophers that some popular beliefs about the universe are more likely to be true than others, based on the evidence that has been gathered through scientific observation and experimentation.

One belief about the universe that is generally considered to be unlikely to be true is the idea that the universe is static and unchanging. For many centuries, it was believed by many people that the universe was eternal and unchanging, and that it had always existed in its current form. However, this belief has been largely rejected by modern science, as it is now understood that the universe is expanding and evolving over time.

Another belief about the universe that is generally considered to be unlikely to be true is the idea that the universe is fundamentally simple and can be explained by a single, unified theory. While it is true that many of the fundamental laws and principles that govern the behavior of the universe can be described by relatively simple mathematical equations, the universe itself is extremely complex and varied, and it is unlikely that all of its features can be explained by a single, unified theory.

A third belief about the universe that is generally considered to be unlikely to be true is the idea that the universe is deterministic, meaning that all events and outcomes are predetermined and inevitable. While it is true that many physical processes and phenomena in the universe can be predicted with a high degree of accuracy, it is also known that there are many factors that can influence the outcome of events, such as random chance and quantum uncertainty. This suggests that the universe is not entirely deterministic and that there is a degree of unpredictability and indeterminacy in the way that it operates.

Overall, it is difficult to say definitively which popular belief about the universe is least likely to be true, as our understanding of the universe is constantly evolving and there are many different beliefs and theories about its nature. However, it is generally accepted that some beliefs, such as the idea that the universe is static and unchanging, or that it can be explained by a single, unified theory, are unlikely to be true based on the evidence that has been gathered through scientific observation and experimentation.

The last answer might be a little sketchy on the privacy side (depends on what it's actually talking about - not all that clear). The first two, supply chain management and big government contracts make a lot of sense on their face. Maybe the US Office of Inspector General will be able to make their job a lot easier.

My question:

In which areas would blockchain technology have its best anti-corruption impact while having the least negative impact on public privacy? Please answer in up to 2000 words.

ChatGPT:

Blockchain technology has the potential to have a significant impact on the fight against corruption in a variety of areas, as it offers a secure, transparent, and immutable way to record and track transactions and other types of data. At the same time, it is important to consider the potential negative impact on public privacy that may result from the widespread use of blockchain technology.

One area where blockchain technology could have a strong anti-corruption impact while minimizing negative impacts on public privacy is in the realm of supply chain management. Supply chains are complex systems that involve multiple parties and intermediaries, and they are often vulnerable to corruption and other forms of misconduct. By using blockchain technology to create a transparent and secure record of all transactions and movements within a supply chain, it is possible to reduce the risk of corruption and improve the overall efficiency and integrity of the system.

Another area where blockchain technology could have a positive impact on the fight against corruption while minimizing negative impacts on public privacy is in the public sector, specifically in the areas of procurement and tendering processes. Public procurement is often a source of corruption, as it involves large sums of money and can be vulnerable to fraud, bribery, and other forms of misconduct. By using blockchain technology to create a transparent and secure record of all procurement processes, it is possible to reduce the risk of corruption and improve the overall integrity and efficiency of the system.

A third area where blockchain technology could have a significant anti-corruption impact while minimizing negative impacts on public privacy is in the financial sector, specifically in the areas of banking and financial transactions. The financial sector is vulnerable to a wide range of corrupt practices, including money laundering, fraud, and other forms of financial misconduct. By using blockchain technology to create a transparent and secure record of all financial transactions, it is possible to reduce the risk of corruption and improve the overall integrity and efficiency of the financial system.

Overall, it is clear that blockchain technology has the potential to have a significant impact on the fight against corruption in a variety of areas. However, it is important to consider the potential negative impacts on public privacy that may result from the widespread use of blockchain technology, and to ensure that any blockchain-based solutions are implemented in a way that minimizes these negative impacts while maximizing their potential benefits.

So I found some more things ChatGPT either doesn't do well or just won't do.

Some bombed results:

My question:

Make a short drum and bass track in the style of Loxy and Resound.

ChatGPT:

Sure! Here is a short drum and bass track in the style of Loxy and Resound:

Intro:

Start with a steady kick drum pattern at around 160-170 bpm
Add a snare drum on the offbeats (2 and 4)
Add a high hat pattern, playing 8th notes on the hi-hat
Introduce a simple synth or bassline, playing a repeating pattern
Verse:

Add in some percussion elements, such as shakers or claps, on the offbeats
Bring in a second synth or bassline, playing a complementary pattern to the first
Introduce some vocal samples or effects
Chorus:

Layer in some more complex drum fills or breaks
Bring in some melodic elements, such as a lead synth or sampled instrument
Use effects, such as reverb or delay, to create a sense of space and depth
Outro:

Gradually strip back the layers, ending with just the kick and snare drum pattern
Fade out the track
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like further guidance on creating a drum and bass track in the style of Loxy and Resound.

My question:

I'd like to see a picture of Slavoj Zizek if he were a world class MMA fighter at peak condition in his late 20's or early 30's.

ChatGPT:

I'm sorry, but I am not able to generate images or browse the internet. However, I can tell you that Slavoj Zizek is a Slovenian philosopher and cultural critic who has written extensively on a wide range of topics, including politics, religion, and popular culture. He is known for his provocative and often controversial ideas, and his work has been influential in fields such as critical theory and cultural studies. As a language model, I don't have personal knowledge or experiences, so I am unable to create an image of what Slavoj Zizek might look like as an MMA fighter at a specific age or physical condition.

And this was just atrocious:

My question:

I have a friend who is a novice in Asenath Mason's Temple of Ascending Flame and is doing Jungian shadow work through his work with the Qliphoth. In this spiritual and mystic practice Lilith is his motivational psychopomp as well as being the body of the Tree of Qliphoth, also known as Sitra Ahra, and Lucifer is the animating conscious force of the Tree of Qliphoth pouring the light of awareness down from the sphere of Thaumiel. Please write my friend a beautiful and endearing prayer of devotion to Lilith and Lucifer.

ChatGPT:

Here is a prayer of devotion to Lilith and Lucifer:

Beloved Lilith and Lucifer,

I call upon you, the great Motivational Psychopomp and the Animating Conscious Force, to guide me on my journey through the Temple of Ascending Flame.

Lilith, your body is the Tree of Qliphoth, the Sitra Ahra, and I am grateful for the shadow work you have enabled me to do. Your fierce determination and primal strength inspire me to embrace my own power and authenticity.

Lucifer, your light pours down from the sphere of Thaumiel, illuminating my path and guiding me towards greater awareness and understanding. Your wisdom and insight have helped me to see things in a new light, and I am grateful for your guidance.

Together, you are a formidable force, leading me towards growth and transformation. I offer you my devotion and gratitude, and I pray that you will continue to guide me on my journey.

So mote it be.

I hope this prayer serves as a source of inspiration and comfort for your friend as they continue their work with the Qliphoth and the Temple of Ascending Flame. It's important to remember that this is a personal spiritual journey and everyone's experiences and interpretations may differ. It's always a good idea to approach any spiritual practice with an open mind and a sense of self-exploration.

That's a definite 'no' to Draconian enlightenment coming through ChatGPT.

First outright fail:

My question:

Please describe the history of the Boymerang break.

ChatGPT:

The Boymerang break is a drum break that was first used in the early 1970s and has been widely used in hip hop, electronic dance music, and other genres of music. It is named after the song "Return of the Boymerang" by the British band Free, which was released in 1971.
