We took our dogs for a walk together on our first date.
We let them run around playing.
It gave us something to talk about and broke the ice.
We both admitted that it made things easier.

I don't remember having a conversation topic or strategy.
It just rolled from one thing to the next.

I hope you have a great time.
If all else fails "Tell me more about yourself" could work.
You could be honest and say "What should we talk about?"

It's sweet to admit you're a little nervous.

My boyfriend was a little nervous when he first met up with me, I have to admit. His shirt kept getting soaking wet with sweat and I assumed he might have had a sweating problem or something and I didn't say anything, but he hasn't sweated like that since the first couple of months of the relationship, so I figured it was nerves - even though he'd been married before.

I wasn't nervous one bit though. I had gone on a few dates before with different guys which probably would have succeeded if I didn't dump them (I didn't dump them heartlessly, I just didn't really fancy them but I still gave them a chance without stringing them along). When I met my boyfriend I just felt he was right for me. I don't find dating hard at all. Friendships though are harder for me to find. I don't know why.

All I can say is: be confident in yourself.

Even if this turns out not to be a “match,” it doesn’t mean it’s “you” that caused this not to work out.

Alas, dating is mostly trial and error.

I hope this meeting turns out well.

I never done the dating thing, very luckily I skipped that step in all 3 of my relationships. From what I hear, guys tend to dislike it when a date asks any questions related to the guy's income like asks about his job or living situation. Guys interpret those questions as the woman evaluating his finachial worthiness. I get why guys would be worried about being judged for their finachial situation by potential relationship partners but those are very common conversation topics people often discuss with friends, family, long term romantic partners, & chatting with strangers at various social situations. IDK what people would talk about during a date if they don't talk about those kinds of things :? I never thought to ask the guys complaining about those questions what would they want to talk about during a date.

Usually, talking about family works well.

It would be great if both of you are fans, say, of the same football club. Great icebreaker! And women can certainly be sports fans.

You can talk about jobs—but definitely not personal finances.

Update: I went to the date and survived! Yay!

Personally I think it went well. The conversation flowed naturally and we went to a couple of other places afterwards. Apparently she has two sisters and four brothers! That must be a lot to deal with.

At the end, she said that she had fun and that we should meet up again sometime.

We stopped at a craft shop at one point and I bought a new sketch book. 8)

I'm going to ask her if she wants to meet up again. We've been making small talk since our last meeting, so hopefully she's still on board for meeting up.
