I haven't heard that, but I have their collaboration with Boris, as well as a similar band called Earth, who I also highly reccomend. Boris also has some early work that features D and C tuned guitars that is somewhat similar to Sunn 0))).

I think everyone loves haunting music but we all have a different definition of "haunting". If you mean ethereal and new-age music : love it. Enya and Clannad and Anuna are great examples, but I also love ethereal influences in rock. A Perfect Circle being a perfect example. Songs like Brena (that intro!), Magdalena and Orestes have a great ethereal feeling throughout them.

One of the most haunting songs out there is definitely Nick Cave & The bad Seeds' "Song of Joy". A story about a man on the run for the killer of his wife and kids, a character drawing John Milton quotes on the wall in the victims' blood. In the end of the story the man-on-the-run quotes John Milton himself: he is a split personality and on the run for a killer that is... himself. Add the very macabre dark music and Nick Cave's intonation and the song gets beyond creepy and haunting. Highly recommended.

I am a big APC fan. I often get insults for saying APC are better than Tool, but who cares :) Fantastic music with very intruiging lyrics. I like the ethereal feeling of A Perfect Circle. Maynard also looks so great when he's on stage with A Perfect Circle, and I adore Billy Howerdel's guitar style.

Speaking of haunting celtic music, this is Celtic Frost.
Doesn't the guy with the beard look like zombie Jesus?

Theres another song on that cd called Drown In Ashes thats even more haunting and creepy and depressing.

hahah yeaa. absolutely man.. i love the ethereal feeling. that was the word i was looking for too.. 'ethereal', that i wanted to use in the previous post but cldnt get it to mind.
im a big fan of tool to, but yea, both tool and apc have different flavours. i like tool for the contructive efforts and their art work, alex grey etc..
i like apc simply because they're unique, yea, maynard is awesome with a perfect circle. their music is very dream like.

good to know there's another apc fan here :)

cheers,

I like Tool but I love A Perfect Circle. Loving and liking are two different things. With Tool, it is more a select number of songs that I find fantastic. Wings for Marie (both parts), Stinkfist, Aenima, Eulogy, The Pot, .... With APC most songs attract me without any song I really dislike. Plus, Tool don't have Billy Howerdel, his guitar plays are fantasic.

And Maynard rocks yeah.

His moves are so original, almost hypnotising :)

By the way, is it just me or does "Stinkfist" have a lot of OCD feeling in it?

"I don't want it - I just need it" is so spot on. I guess the link with OCD is not really there but that one sentence could come straight out of a song about OCD.

hahah, i nvr really thought about stinkfist with ocd metaphors.. but i get what you mean.

i love vicarious, aenima, rosetta stoned.. and yea.. The Pot is beautifull.. hmm.. i love the guitar fr Jambi and the Talkbox effect that adam jones uses..just amazing.

i see, yea i admire billy howerdel's use of sound. very very ethereal .
he kinda reminds me of myself, because he said in an interview, if u saw it, where he and maynard were the only ones being interviewed.. he said "when i'm happy, i make dark music, and it's the other way round when i'm sad." contrasting.

i seem to do it that way too when im creating music..

Nice to talk to another APC fan! I have been searching a forum for APC for a while now but never found one. I find Tool forums yes, but generally the people posting there tend to be a bit unwelcoming to APC fans, so I have been looking for an APC-specific forum. Never found one.

My favourite APC tracks are Brena and The Hollow, with Three Libras being a close nr 3.

tool fans.. yea they probly dont enjoy apc music.. so tat's normal they wont like it . i don't care .

I would love an APC forum. Thought several times of starting one myself.

The problem is that the few Tool forums that have APC topics, are full of people having the (IMO stupid) idea Maynard should not "waste" his time on other things than Tool. These people don't like A Perfect Circle and they don't like APC fans. So these forums are not really good for APC to discuss in a friendly atmosphere. I have been called an "idiot" by some Tool fans because I prefer APC... :? I still consider starting an APC forum but I would need a few people helping me out moderating.

Three Libras is awesome. I always strongly related to the lyrics of The Hollow.

"Run, desire, run
This sexual being - run him like a blade
Through and through the hollow conscience
One motive to cater through the hollow
Screamin FEED ME! Fill me up again
Temporarily passifying"

I have erotophobia and the lyrics of The Hollow are like saying to me I should fight it because I cannot run away from sexual desire even if I'd try. Great lyrics though and the emotion in Maynard's vocals is awesome.

I also like the opening line of Orestes a lot: "Metaphor for a missing moment"...
