Not the ballot, the book for eligible voters.

Ah, OK thanks. That makes sense.
I still can't recall if we sign the book or not.
I don't think so??
Maybe your signature is equivalent to our photo ID.

they rejected my late sister's late husband's signature also and he had to go down to the county assessor's office to sign in person.

I hope that was before he passed away.

Lol - sorry I couldn't resist.

May he and your sister rest in peace.

This is so interesting to me. And, they wonder why the NHS is floundering. It sounds so vulnerable if they're investing money to treat people who don't "deserve" it (insurance-wise).

Every working person pays health insurance via their wages. It is called National Insurance. It all goes into a big pot of money to be used for everyone's healthcare. So people who can't afford to pay for healthcare get it paid for them, well in fact we all get it paid for us. It's called working together as a community.

So we do have a system of health insurance, it's just not the same as the US one.

The UK government has not been investing in the NHS, that's why it's floundering. They've been investing in private healthcare systems e.g. BUPA. They want us all to move to private healthcare like that.

I can see how that system wouldn't work for a massive country like the US however. The UK is much smaller.

12 years ago the NHS was rated as one of the most efficient and best value for money health services in the world. Its now floundering because 1 political party actively wants it to flounder.

It is so sad isn't it. And too many people in the UK are burying their heads in the sand saying this isn't happening and therefore not doing anything to prevent it. Sooooo frustrating.

Anyway, as I keep saying:

****Brits! SPREAD THE WORD! Tell other Brits they will now need photo ID for voting.****

Otherwise vast numbers of voters will be disenfranchised. And that is going down a very dangerous road.

Yesterday we started the process of getting a photo ID for our 16 year old so she gets it in good time for her 18th birthday. What a palaver! We nearly gave up halfway. So I can see how many young people would give up and not bother...They aren't allowed to use their easily obtained bus passes or student ID cards, they have to go to all the trouble and expense of buying yet another ID card.

Can you see what the government is doing? Very sneaky.

Well… I have a postal vote, we’ll see how that one works.

Also, if you saw the photo on my passport… good grief… I could lend it to anyone in the street and they could use it.
