When I was in high school and given my Catholic upbringing, I believed that LGBTQ people were "weird" and "disgusting." 
However, I think in junior year an openly gay faculty member helped me accept the fact that LGBTQ people are no different from straight people and to him I'll forever be grateful to. 
Despite my mom accusing me of being gay to this day, I openly support the rights of LGBTQ people as does my NT sister who openly identifies as asexual.
On another note, my NT sister and I have a pair of uncles who believe that asexuality isn't real, that she is making it all up and that she is using her age to get out of wanting a boyfriend, which is IMO misogyny.

It's not "socially unacceptable" to the extreme but I do really love visual novels. I've been told that as a woman, I should find them degrading but I just... don't? (Also, don't tell me how to feel.) They present a wide range of stories and genres. Many have beautiful graphics and music too! I do enjoy some of the darker visual novels but I'm aware that they're just fiction. It's not real. It's just a story. (Obviously, anything that crosses the line into stuff with kids or animals is not something I'd be reading.) Anyways, I'm actually glad to see so many visual novels being translated nowadays because I got made fun of for liking them when I was younger. Now there's a decent sized market for them.
