I personally just don't see any hope in trying to save a world without salvation.

I'm sick of society. The people at the top won't stop destroying the earth because of money, money, money, but they're still quick to blame the rest of us for the damage caused.

OK I don't really believe in saving the planet, as nature knows how to take over (watch Life After People) but I do believe in giving animals more rights than we do and not taking away their natural habitats, etc.

I just get mad when they keep digging up land to build hundreds of (unaffordable) houses, with very small gardens and not a tree in sight.

I always say, if trees provided WiFi then nobody would cut them down, but since they only provide the oxygen we breathe they're not that important. That's the mentality of humans.

I think I would if I knew how to, but I don't. My track record for influencing others barely exists AFAIK. And if they're as impermeable to influence as I am, then I just have to hope they'll find out for themselves. And I'm not even sure I'd know what to make them do if I had them all under my control. I keep hearing that countries can't be run like happy families whatever we do, and that everything's pretty much out of control. Wouldn't be surprised.

I suppose you mean things like global warming.

I mean I guess that is up to the aliens who'd be able to interfere in any scale to effect it either way.

This question is one where the answer a person gives will totally depend on that person's specific philosophy and their specific theology, if any.

The fact we are here to post another day means we think there's hope

The trouble with this statement about humans being incapable of redemption…is the fact that most humans are actually okay, desire decency, and just want to make a living.

Living an abstract fantasy about our basic indecency…I find useless because it isn’t true.

We don’t need to be “saved.” We need to prevent power-hungry megalomaniacs from gaining leadership.

Just like the News….the negative gets attention more than the positive.

No offense but I think you're optimism about the alleged good in humanity is way too optimistic...

We have different "life experiences." This could account for the difference in our perspective.

But I just don't believe that Homo Sapiens is inherently evil.

The very best chance for our demise was during about 1343-1355 or so----the Black Death.

We haven't come close to the destructive power of the Black Death since.

I am not "optimistic" that the Demise of Mankind will come.

What we do have to do-----is prevent authoritarian and fascist regimes from coming to power. We have to respect the dignity of a person's life.

Frankly I think preventing maniacal tyrants and their idiot enablers from wrecking the world is a lost cause.

I think the individual human may be decent, but it's people as a collective who are dangerous animals.

We are "dangerous as a collective" only if we let it "get that far."

And throughout the majority of human history we did let it "get that far".

Because peace isn't profitable to the elites and it makes us bored.

There are forces----and there are counterforces.

This is a constant thing.

The forces of anti-authoritarianism have been winning, for the most part (except in certain areas) since World War II. Nowadays, there's a bad tendency going on. However, this does not mean that we must destroy everything just because of the existence of a "bad tendency."

Sorry, buddy.....our species will not end soon; we are too stubborn!

That’s going to take billions of years.
