Oh I thought you meant me.

What's the protocol for drivers dealing with passengers who break rules?

if passenger is causing offense or disturbance on the bus the driver can contact the depot or the police if its that bad

im quite stern i mean there isnt a law to say we have to tell passengers to pick up their trash but we do have the right to if we think its going to cause a hazard

yes i do sometimes get carried away with authority thats why some call me hitler down at the depot

Are you saying you're proud of making her cry, or you feel badly?

I'm confused about your intention with the post.

How old was this "girl" ?

Pounce?

I did read your post but it's ambiguous.

The thread title is "I made a girl cry".
I thought it meant you felt badly and wanted people to support you.

I opened it and in the post you explained why you were angry with the girl.
Then you said you used softer words when she exited the bus.
That sounded like you felt sorry for her.
Then later you said you didn't feel guilty.

Then you said you have a reputation for being very strict.

I'm lost about your intention with this.
Now you're saying you have a reputation for pouncing, but I can't ask questions.
My partner is confused too.

Was this just a news update about your day, or do you feel badly?

"I'm confused about people's feelings" - That's why I suggested there must be a protocol.
If you just follow the rulebook you wouldn't have to worry about hurting anyone's feelings.

Personally, I worry more about other people's feelings than my own.
I wouldn't want to make another person cry, especially not in public with sarcasm.
If I did mess up and something like that happened, I'd apologise next time I saw her.

I would have felt tearful and humiliated if I were that girl too, but I do understand where the OP is coming from about dirty buses. I clean buses myself, sometimes sweeping them if I'm on a later shift, and by Christ you should see the mess people leave on them, it's shocking. Some bottles and cans are literally put in places deliberately, which baffles me because that actually takes more effort than just taking the rubbish with you and throwing it in the nearest bin (I'm not going to Americanise by saying "trashcan").

Some empty cans and bottles are wedged between the seats, and I have even found things stuck to windows and seats with gum. Oh, and don't get me started on gum.
The other cleaners say that they wonder what their homes look like.

My problem was that you were unnecessarily a hardass. It's fine to want the bottle picked up for safety reasons, but assuming someone threw it on purpose, forcing them to single themselves out instead of generally asking people to pick it up because it could cause a crash OR just picking it up yourself, and then posting this and basically being like "lmao I made them cry but tough s**t" via the last line in your OP all really irritated me. I will never understand why autistic people choose to behave like this and put other people into mortifying social situations for no reason. You singled out and stressed out a grown woman enough that you made her cry, and act as if that's a fine reaction.

i did apologise when she was getting off
i told her in a nice tone that there are litter bins around at most bus stops
i didnt expect her to cry and then stomp off
what could i do?chase after her and beg for forgiveness.?
