Blackadder was also quite good

Also: The Two Ronnies

Peep Show had quite a following.

As did The Mighty Boosh.

Can't believe I forgot Blackadder; loved every series of it and Benny Hill was hilarious- the British Charlie Chaplin :). Most British sitcoms aren't funny when adapted to the U.S. though; the American Red Dwarf just reused jokes from the original, couldn't stand Friends and it was supposedly an adaptation of Coupling.

There were also some excellent shows by Ricky Gervais. The Office, and Extras.

Just finished watching Life On Mars and have moved on to Ashes To Ashes. It's absolutely fantastic and so funny.

I watched some of that back when it first came out. Seemed interesting

They tried to do an American version of Coupling, but it only lasted a few episodes, and it didn't even air in Salt Lake City (their NBC affiliate is owned by the Mormon church).

Trying to bring shows across the Atlantic often doesn't work. Yes, The Office did seem to work pretty well in the US, but there's a decent list of WTF were they thinking. American Red Dwarf was absolutely terrible. The British version of That 70s Show was pretty bad. (In fairness there, they were reusing scripts and just swapping out references) American Whose Line is it is OK, but not great.

Coupling was funny, I need to watch more of that. My Hero with Ardal O'Hanlon also on Father Ted, was also quite good and I'm surprised that I haven't heard more about it. He's got kind of a Robin Williams vibe going on in those shows.

Benny Hill is arguably only slightly less responsible for my social skills than ASD. Although, it's probably best to skip through the musical numbers if you've got a short attention span.

Fawlty Towers
Monty Python Flying Circus
Still Game
Mrs. Brown's Boys
Sherlock
Dr. Who
Red Dwarf
Mr. Bean
Luther
Peaky Blinders
Spaced
A Bit of Fry and Laurie
Jeeves and Wooster
Keeping Up Appearances
IT Crowd
Father Ted
Wallace and Gromit (does this count?)
Last of the Summer Wine (only remembered because it has Peter Sallis in it also)

Red Dwarf is my favourite TV show ever, British or otherwise.

I also like Peep Show, One Foot in the Grave, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Black Books, ALan Partridge, the IT Crowd...

In more recent years, I have not seen new stuff I find so funny or well-made but I recommend Ghosts (UK not American remake) and also Yonderland, which was made by the same people.

Have you tried Lexx [1996-2002]? You might also enjoy it if you enjoy Red Dwarf.

Note, however, Lexx is less suitable for younger audiences, and the Lexx crew makes the Red Dwarf crew look professional and well-adjusted. And each season is significantly different than the preceding one.

Lexx is partly a UK production.

I hope you enjoy it.

Be forewarned...Lexx sometimes makes you wonder "Did they really do that?!" (And I'm talking about the story, not the effects.)

And additional forewarning...Lexx has humor, but verydarkhumor.
