Lidia Thorpe has been accused of heckling an Indigenous Elder about the Voice to Parliament while she was waiting for her flight from Canberra.

The Victorian Senator allegedly "disrespected" and made fun of Uluru Dialogue co-chair Aunty Pat Anderson AO at Canberra Airport as the 79-year-old struggled to board her flight last week.

Queensland Voice advocate Merv Aubrey said she was trying to calm Aunty Pat who was upset that her boarding pass was not valid for her flight, when the Senator allegedly chimed in.

"Aunty Pat a 79-year-old woman clearly is upset and frustrated as we are all put to one side to sort out our tickets... and then we hear a voice behind us yell ‘Where’s ya voice now, isn’t this why ya need ya voice’," Aubrey alleged in a Facebook post.

Thorpe sounds a lot like America's Marjorie Traitor Greene.

Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie has urged Lidia Thorpe to start taking "responsibility for your own actions" following another controversy over the weekend.

The outspoken senator was filmed in a heated verbal argument with a group of men outside Maxine's Gentlemen's Club in north Melbourne around 3am on Sunday.

She was out celebrating a friend's 50th birthday when the controversial senator claimed to be "provoked" and singled out as she left the strip club.

Ms Thorpe could be seen in the video obtained by 7News being accused as a racist as she questioned why "black brothers" were standing with a "white little c***".

Senator Lambie appeared on Sky News Australia on Monday to talk about the Voice to Parliament when she was asked about her thoughts on the incident.

"I think when you are out that late and you put yourself in that sort of situation, you have better take responsibility for your actions," she told Peter Stefanovic.

"There’s no getting out of this. You are a politician and sometimes we do muck up. But not taking any responsibility for that yourself is not very helpful."

The founder of the Jacquie Lambie Network then suggested Ms Thorpe seek treatment in the form of counselling as a way to "take responsibility of your own actions".

"If you do not think you’re not in a good way, then go and do what the rest of us do and go and get some counselling or psychology," she added.

"Because quite frankly something needs to be done. I would say this to Lidia, you cannot keep doing this. A good start would be, (is to admit) you are part of the problem, take the responsibility of your own actions and take them into your own hands."

A friend can be seen attempting to pull Ms Thorpe back from the group twice, as she continued to yell obscenities before getting into a taxi.

“All I want to say to the black brothers there and anyone that we’re fighting,” she said.

“Any black man that stands with the f***** white little c*** like that, youse can all get f***** too.

"We've been repressed all our f***** life in this country and you let this little dog speak."

After the incident, Ms Thorpe claimed she was provoked and that the men had targeted her and harassed her over her advocacy on Indigenous issues.

“It’s sad people are utilising whatever they can to drag me down when we’re trying to discuss important issues in this country,” she said in a statement.

Lidia Thorpe’s father has sensationally slammed the Victorian Senator in a piercing barb claiming his daughter is a “very racist person”.

Roy Illingworth made the shock revelations in an exclusive interview with Sky News Australia host Andrew Bolt which will air on Foxtel from 7pm on Thursday.

He told The Bolt Report host he was “disappointed” by how his controversial daughter had abandoned her English and Irish roots.

“The way I see it, the way she is and the way she’s changed over the years, she’s a very racist person,” Mr Illingworth said.

“She doesn’t acknowledge any of her white side. I’m a bit disappointed in the way she’s been carrying on lately.

“Because after all, she does have English background as well as Irish, the convict side of the English.”

Senator Lidia Thorpe is the gift that keeps on giving.

She was the subject of a parliamentary investigation (which later cleared her of wrongdoing) after failing to disclose a relationship with a former bikie while sitting on the joint law enforcement committee.

Then she was escorted from Mardi Gras by police, while attempting to protest something or other, with the usually festive crowd chanting “throw her out”.

And at the recent women’s rights rally in Canberra, she was again removed by police for attempting to charge the event speaker.

You’d think that would be the end of it. But it’s not.

Instead, over the weekend, Senator Thorpe was filmed getting into a confronting verbal altercation with a group of men at the front of Maxine’s Gentleman’s Club in Melbourne at the wrong end of a night out.

As part of this racially-charged expletive-ridden spray, Senator Thorpe told one of the men he was “marked” and taunted another about having a small penis.

Senator Thorpe claims she was provoked.

For a politician who does plenty of provoking herself, she should perhaps take note of how others restrain themselves.

That said, Senator Thorpe appears to be allergic to the very notion of personal responsibility and has mastered the art of blame shifting - decrying anyone who opposes her precise view of the world as racist.

In fact, the racism card is so overplayed it is slumped in the corner from exhaustion.

Sections of the media have been remarkably silent about Senator Thorpe’s antics, and in some cases have tried to justify her poor behaviour.

She has been given leeway which no parliamentarian of a major party – Coalition or Labor – could ever hope to be given.

Had the media been consistent in the standard it apparently expects from parliamentarians, Senator Thorpe would’ve been hounded from her position long ago.

Section 44 of the Constitution details the very few instances where a parliamentarian can be disqualified from parliament and there is no suggestion that Senator Thorpe has offended any of those provisions.

What is offensive is Senator Thorpe’s lack of appreciation for the privilege of being a senator, the disregard she has for our institutions and her parliamentary colleagues, the contempt she has for the Australian people and her blatant refusal to act in any manner that is fit and becoming of a federal parliamentarian.

In addition to the media’s lethargic criticism, the clipboard enthusiasts on the crossbench – otherwise known as the Teals – who usually take great delight in passing judgement on the behaviour of the lesser mortals in parliament, have also been conspicuously silent on the behaviour of Senator Thorpe.

As is often the case in politics, it is convenient to ignore the poor behaviour of people with whom you sympathise politically.

Perhaps they can take props from crossbench senator Jacqui Lambie, who yesterday slammed Senator Thorpe’s behaviour and said she must take responsibility for her actions.

Ah yes, responsibility.

What a novel concept.

Ultimately our parliamentarians are charged with serving the Australian people.

And the Australian people, Indigenous and non-Indigenous alike, are poorly served by this gauche display of attention-seeking performative activism.

This situation is so unsatisfactory one almost feels a pang of sympathy for Julian Burnside.

Imagine giving up your membership to the Savage Club and being denied Greens preselection because you were passed over in favour of the hopelessly deficient Lidia Thorpe.

And for that gift to Australians, Adam Bandt should be held accountable.

Anthony Albanese has hit back at Lidia Thorpe who claimed he was "racist" and misogynistic" after suggesting she seek support over her latest controversy.

The outspoken independent Senator was over the weekend caught on film in an expletive-filled argument with a group of men outside a Melbourne strip club.

She can be seen in the footage walking out the doors of Maxine Gentlemen's Club repeatedly shouting and pointing her finger centimetres from a man's face.

The Prime Minister said days later he "hoped" Ms Thorpe would find support as the behaviour she exhibited in public was "quite clearly unacceptable".

"And I think there are obvious issues that need to be dealt with in terms of her health issues. These are not the actions of anyone who should be participating, in society in a normal way, let alone a Senator," he told 2SM's Richard King on Wednesday.

"And Lidia needs to be very conscious of the way in which this behaviour has been seen. They are repeat exercises now."

The controversial Senator responded one day later about the Labor leader's comments, saying they were "insulting" and "very inappropriate".

She subsequently released a lengthy statement on Thursday night, adding she was "disappointed by the opportunism of politicians using this to drag me down".

"There is a history of white men in power using the media to attack and demonise Blak people that stand up to racism,” she said.

“Saying I need ‘mental help’ is a continuation of the old, racist and misogynistic narrative used to discredit and silence outspoken and strong women, particularly Blak women.”
