Trump expects to be arrested Tuesday as DA eyes charges

Quote:
Donald Trump said in a social media post that he expects to be arrested Tuesday as a New York prosecutor is eyeing charges in a case examining hush money paid to women who alleged sexual encounters with the former president. Trump provided no evidence that suggested he was directly informed of a pending arrest and did not say how he knew of such plans.

But in a Saturday morning message on his Truth Social network, Trump noted “illegal leaks” from the Manhattan district attorney’s office that he said indicate “THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK.”

In his social media post, Trump repeated his lies that the 2020 presidential election he lost to Democrat Joe Biden was stolen and he urged his followers to “PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” That language evoked the message from the then-president that preceded the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 when his supporters broke through doors and windows of that building and left officers beaten and bloodied as they tried to stop the certification of the election.

That raises an interesting question.

If Trump become incarcerated, then...does he still get the full secret service protection that the law mandates for all former presidents?

He is going to be followed by a team of suited secret service agents WHILE he is in prison ...guarding him from harm...while at the same time...the prison staff is guarding him..from escaping?

And if he DOES escape do the secret service agents all...just follow him where ever he runs to?

We will be in unprecendented presidential territory here!

Picture one orange jumpsuit, followed by a bunch of black suits, followed by a bunch of guys in blue.

But the real question, would the Secret Service have to intervene if the police are too rough on the crook?

I believe soap on a rope was invented specifically for the incarcerated.

He will. This is meant to keep him from running, but it won't work.

He can run from prison just like Eugene V Debs did.
Sadly, he's no Eugene Victor Debs.

He’ll get house arrest and have to wear an ankle monitor.
Or a special suite at camp Federal.

 No; this is meant to apply the law and justice system to all criminals regardless of whether or not they have money, status, or fancy titles.

He committed many, MANY, crimes in his life and as potus. Now he’s going to face consequences for several of them. This is just one of the simpler cases to prepare, which is why it’s first. Others are coming.

Michael Cohen May be right - he figures trump will get house arrest because it’s too much of a national security risk of him blabbing classified info in jail. But never know, maybe he’ll get some sort of solitary confinement or something in gitmo where he can’t say s**t to anyone. 8)

They could always lock him up next to Teddy Kaczynski.

Trump's Rivals Outraged by Possible New York Indictment

Quote:
As former President Donald Trump may be on the verge of indictment in New York, some of his political rivals are preemptively criticizing what would be an unprecedented decision—describing it as "persecution" and a "disaster".

In response to the news, Trump's rival for the GOP nomination, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, blasted the possibility of indicting the former president.

"A Trump indictment would be a national disaster. It is un-American for the ruling party to use police power to arrest its political rivals. If a Republican prosecutor in 2004 had used a campaign finance technicality to arrest then-candidate John Kerry while Bush & Cheney were in power, liberals would have cried foul - and rightly so. Principles go beyond partisanship," the Republican presidential hopeful tweeted.

Ramaswamy contended that "the American people" should "decide who governs."

Meanwhile, Trump's former Vice President Mike Pence, who is widely believed to be planning a 2024 run, criticized the possibility of an indictment in an interview with Breitbart News Saturday.

"Well, like many Americans, I'm just, I'm taken aback," he said.

"You have literally a Democratic party that's literally dismantled the criminal justice system in that city, undercut the NYPD, and this is what the Manhattan DA says is their top priority? It reeks of the kind of political prosecution that we endured back in the days of the Russia hoax and the whole impeachment over a phone call," Pence said.

Some think that an indictment will only benefit Trump as he seeks the presidency again.

"TRUMP WINS IN HISTORIC LANDSLIDE, SAVES THE NATION...[sic]," right-wing strategist Steve Bannon, who served as the CEO of Trump's 2016 campaign and worked as a White House adviser, wrote on Gettr Saturday. Bannon's post included a screenshot of the same sentiment expressed by billionaire Twitter owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

"If this [indictment] happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory," Musk tweeted.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican who has endorsed Trump for reelection, shared similar sentiments in remarks at a conservative event on Saturday.

"The prosecutor in New York has done more to help Donald Trump get elected president than any single person in America today," Graham said at the Palmetto Family Council's Vision '24 Forum in his home state.

A spokesperson for Trump told Newsweek in an emailed statement that he did not know for certain if he would be indicted on Tuesday.

"There has been no notification, other than illegal leaks from the Justice Dept. and the DA's office, to NBC and other fake news carriers, that the George Soros-funded Radical Left Democrat prosecutor in Manhattan has decided to take his Witch-Hunt to the next level," the spokesperson said. "President Trump is rightfully highlighting his innocence and the weaponization of our injustice system."

The same folks who were cool with 'lock her up' suddenly have a problem with a criminal not being allowed to use running for president as a get-out-of-jail-free card?

Hillary escaped the consequences of her reprehensible actions.
Why shouldn't Trump?
