Been shut in my room for a couple days with a nasty sore throat. It’s getting better. Definitely more awake and alert compared to sleeping most of the last couple days. But not well enough that I’m not contagious so still gonna be in here for another day or 2 or 3, whatever.

I’ve been listening to the beginning of trump’s end on fb watch news clips all day. K. Heard it. Boring.

Not quite clear headed enough to wanna read a book or anything.

So I figure I’ll watch a movie or two this eve.

I like action/adventure type movies more than dramas or comedies. Action, maybe sci-fi, mmmaybe even something different never know.

What would your top picks be? I haven’t seen all that many movies in the last decade sooo there could be something that was really good from several years ago I haven’t seen yet so ya don’t limit ideas to recent releases I guess

i think you might find "seconds..." to be a fascinating look at a different kind of horror. you might also try "incubus." that one has william shatner cap't. kirk in it, it was filmed entirely in esperanto, a synthetic language that is vaguely like latin. "the devil's rain" [also shatner] is a demonic horror flick. "waking life" is a rotoscoped [painting over live action film] surreal trip. YMMV.

for something newer or of your generation you might try "loving vincent" which is a life story of the painter van gogh animated in the style of his paintings.

Well, keep those germs over there in Canada

:D

I saw Alien recently dunno if you've seen that?

Memento is a great detective thriller
Ed Wood is a funny film about a bad horror movie director.
A documentary on YouTube about a terrible horror movie called troll 2 is good.
I saw wonder woman,it was not bad for a super hero film although they are wearing out their welcome.
I'm watching a tv show on the BBC about 1960's spies , it seems good so far.its called a spy among friends I think.

Most of the stuff I recommended is not what you asked for... but I haven't seen a good action film recently.

Without more info to narrow it down,
some goodish mainstream action/adventure/science fiction movies:

<=>- The Day After Tomorrow [2004]
<=>- Ender's Game [2013]
<=>- The Fifth Element [1997]
<=>- Independence Day [1996] and there is a sequel
<=>- John Carter [2012]
<=>- Oblivion [2013]
<=>- Serenity [2005] but best to watch the not-too-long Firefly series first—in the correct order!
<=>- Total Recall [1990] w/Schwarzenegger
<=>- Total Recall [2012] w/o Schwarzenegger
<=>- WarGames [1983]
<=>- War of the Worlds [2005] the modernized one, not the 50's classic
<=>- Waterworld [1995]

<=>- Spy Kids [2001]
<=>- Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams [2002]
<=>- Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over [2003]
<==+=>I would skip: Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World [2011]

'Seconds' is definitely worth a look, if you mean that one with Rock Hudson, who undergoes a complete identity change.

I’m not too big on horrors at all, haven’t been for the last 15 years. Too negative/mind pollution.

I’ve seen several of the movies reco’d above.

Keep the list coming - I haven’t decided what I’ll watch yet.

if you can handle an old-fashioned musical, you might try "paint your wagon" as it has several unusual things in it including both lee marvin and clint eastwood singing somewhat inexpertly but with some feeling. the plot line is about an uncivilized gold town and a ménage à trois between marvin, eastwood and jean seburg's characters, and there is some emotional resonance with the fact that eastwood and seburg were having an affair at the time.

if you like david cassidy at all, "spirit of '76" was a lot of fun. :)

if ya wanna see an old western with a modern sensibility, "there was a crooked man" is worth watching. if ya wanna see two toughs [ernest borgnine and lee marvin] go at it, then "emperor of the north" is an interesting view. "dr. strangelove" is one that i watch at least once per year, the darkest of dark humor on display there.

Really enjoyed "the martian".
Smart, somewhat believable, not gory, space movie.

Seen it a couple times and was going to watch it with my friend last weekend buuuuut he wasn’t sober enough to watch a movie. :roll: At least we watched Interstellar a few days earlier - another good one.

Was thinking I’d wait and watch it with him since he hasn’t seen it, but I miiiight just watch it again myself hmm.
