When passing strangers in the woods you get that overwhelming obligation to look at them and say hello. At least you don't have to do that in a crowded street.

I suppose people are more likely to be friendly when passing in the woods, so it's easier to make eye contact and at least smile, as they're more likely to greet you rather than give you an awkward glare.

There aren’t usually people where I go. I’ve been hiking in the same spot for weeks and today was the first time I passed someone.

I prefer passing by people in cities. Then one isn’t obligated to say hello or acknowledge their presence in any way or they mine.

Tomorrow I think I will wander off the path, so I can make noise and behave like a crazy person with no risk of being overheard. It’s the last thing that I really need to do.

Do you mean you shouldn't really do it OR do you have a 'to do' list and it's the last thing on the list you haven't done?

If it's the former, why? If it's the latter , yay.

It’s mostly the latter.

I don’t have a list. It just occurred to me that it would be really, really therapeutic.

It’s not too rough. I’d say that the trail is moderately difficult.

I’m hoping to do a challenging trail this summer that has a bunch of waterfalls. I lived nearby when I was a kid and went there fairly often. It really feels like home.

I might enjoy it or I might just find it therapeutic. Time will tell.

I hiked 9 miles today.

I wouldn't mind a stair machine with a TV in front of it... if I had to go for a walk.

It's not for everyone but it does help for a lot of people.

9 miles f**k!! put me to shame, I walk about 2.5 miles a day (in the woods)

I’ve hiked 31 miles over the past 4 days. It’s not even about physical exercise. I just needed to clear my head and get some things sorted out. It’s definitely working.

I walk as it's supposed to help getting out in nature , most of the time I feel like I'm walking in molasses and it's always a struggle to get out of my chair. The last two days I've had to leave the house as I was going to explode but that's what happens when you live with your partner :jester:

9 more miles today.

The ferns were so pretty. I saw 3 deer, too.

I like hiking by myself. I don't usually like hiking with other people because they don't keep up with me and try to restrict what I do or where I go.
