For me, this song is about mental illness.

Lyrics (a portion of them):
What the hell's going on?
Can someone tell me, please?!
Why I'm switching faster than the channels on TV?
I'm black, then I'm white
No, something isn't right!
My enemy's invisible, I don't know how to fight

For me, music like this is very cathartic. Others may find it too negative or too much of a reminder, but it's helpful for me, most often.

This one is def another one that I relate to.... basically my mental breakdowns last year. Including the one that landed me in the mental hospital.

Faded pictures on the wall
It's like they talkin' to me
Disconnectin' all calls
Your phone don't even ring
I gotta get out
Or figure this shh out

It's too close for comfort, oh-ohh
It's a thief in the night to come and grab you (uh-huh)
It can creep up inside you and consume you (uh-huh)
A disease of the mind, it can control you (uh-huh)
I feel like a monster, ohh

I tell people the day this lyric tenor stops singing and making music is when they better start worrying…

Not a mental disorder, but I relate this song to having grown up in a dysfunctional family

I would attribute this song to mental illness:
https://vocaroo.com/ghgqTUN5UJF

Because I had to be manic to believe I could rap.

She comes in colours everywhere
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colours in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colours

"She's a Rainbow" - Stones

This is because of my synaesthesia.
I think it's my most profound neurological condition.
I see every word, sound, number, name, and emotion in colour, and no other way.
I can't even picture people or places except for abstract colours and shapes.

Here's a more positive-minded one! This song was my anthem in July of last year when dealing with a lot of anxiety and intrusive thoughts.

Start the day against the voices
The ones that tell me that I'm wrong
I hear them now
Screaming their delusions
I close my eyes and they're gone

In my mind I hear the voices
In my mind I have my doubts
Burning fears, these ghosts and apparitions
Only a whisper can drown them out, yeah

If they ain't singing
They're just talking
Let them keep talking to themselves

'Cause everybody knows
The hardest war to fight
Is the fight to be yourself
When the voices try to turn you into someone else

Someone else

Start the road against the voices
I picked a path out in the woods

I've made mistakes
I've got the scars to prove them
I'd change the past if I could

There's no video to it, but it's a little on the nose.

I am just a man
I do the things i can
There is capacity for I am a human
Cars and radios
Television codes
Noisy animals jam transmissions
I will go to work
Just like captain Kirk
I will hear the noise
The standard feedback
I will smell Chee-tos
That is how it goes
And then the nachos in my head explode, yeah!

And then he had a meltdown
He had a meltdown
He didn't wanna
He didn't wanna have a meltdown
But he had one
And then he had a meltdown
He had a meltdown
Well he was tryin'
Really really tryin' not to have one
But he had one!

I cannot control
I am overload
So many of these things
Can control me
There is Murphy's law
There is Newton's law
Things go wrong
And then they fall down on me
Why do many things
Change around me?
What? my comfort zone
Has been invaded
It has come to this
And now I must
And now I must surgically remove myself!

And then he had a meltdown
He had a meltdown
He didn't wanna
He didn't wanna have a meltdown
But he had one
And then he had a meltdown
He had a meltdown
Well he was tryin'
Really really trying not to have one
But he had one!

[Sample:]
I suggest you double the intensity!

And then he had a meltdown
He had a meltdown
He didn't wanna
He didn't wanna have a meltdown
But he had one
And then he had a meltdown
He had a meltdown
Well he was tryin'
Really really tryin not to have one
But he had one!

And then he had a meltdown
He had a meltdown
He didn't wanna
He didn't wanna have a meltdown
But he had one
And then he had a meltdown
He had a meltdown
Well he was tryin'
Really really really really really really really really
Trying not to have one

Planet Claire - B52s

Kids called me "spaced out" as long as I can remember.
"Stunned" was another word for it.

You can have my life, I'm sad
You can have the beat in my heart
You can be my light, pizzazz
You can be my spark in the dark
But if I'm out there acting the bum I'll become one
So no more frigid nights in the cold
I would fall asleep in the lawn 'til the sun rose
14 karat gold (gold)

You can have my life, I'm sad

Broken downtown down on Wedgewood & 8th
And I'm bleeding like a heartache get ready to break
And then on down the road comes another mistake
Try hard as I might, I can't quite get it right
I'm bummin'!
I'm bummin'!

[...]

(I can't afford this afford this bummin', no
I'm in a crisis, oh)
I'm bummin'!
(So take this life you gave me
Save me from my vices)

This song was my anthem back when dealing with extreme executive dysfunction due to at-the-time-undiagnosed ADHD

Quote:
I've tried
To stand upon my feet,
But every time I fall back down again.
Maybe this
Is not the way to find my answer.

[....]

Even if I'm bound,
And the key I have isn't the
Right one found,
Still, I will end it with the
Impact of the lock on the ground

Also the lyric "Even if I'm never saved I'll still be brave"? Chef's kiss

My first mental health crisis was at age 16. I was suffering from extreme levels of depression and was actively.... well, you get the idea.
