politics are everything

though, yeah, I agree... the political system in the US is literally a "show"

One of the dullest books I've ever tried to read. Right up there with the Koran and the Book of Mormon.

Here’s the thing with Atlas Shrugged. It’s eleven hundred pages of brilliant, beautiful, go-getter industrialists talking to stupid, grasping, corrupt collectivists, set in a world where only half the laws of economics apply. The character names change but nothing else. Otherwise, it’s not bad. No, I lie. Even setting that aside, it’s terrible. I felt like Ayn Rand cornered me at a party, and three minutes in I found my first objection to what she was saying, but she kept talking without interruption for ten more days.

It’s not a novel so much as a manifesto, and, I think, impossible to enjoy unless you’re at least a little on board for the philosophy, and it’s hard to be on board for the philosophy if you understand economics or see a moral problem with starving poor people. I realize many believe fervently in the philosophy. They email me. And I don’t think it’s one hundred percent bogus. But it demands that you choose between no government or total government, and I think all such extremes have similarly extreme problems.

You either choose to be a leftist or a rightist. If you're a leftist then you have to vote for anti-gun+anti-defense policies so you can get raped robbed beaten or murdered by criminals. The left claims to be feminist but in reality Leftists cities are the hardest places for a woman to escape from a wife beater husband, because of all the Identity verifications required just to rent a place.

So your only option is to side with right-wing who have outdated transphobic views and believe in fairy tales without evidence.

It is my opinion that both left and right wing politics have been specifically engineered to be this way, in order to force people to pick a side, in such a way that both sides are constructed in such as way as to limit peasant freedoms until the thinking human has had enough, and then cause a civil war.

This whole thing is a giant misrepresentation. There is not a single credible national Democrat advocating ending gun rights. Gun control is not gun rights. Even if you can't purchase an AR-15, it doesn't mean you can't purchase a handgun. So the entire gun argument is absurd - and this is coming from someone who is open to repealing the 2nd if thats what it takes.

Lets just take the feminist part at face value - wtf? Like thats such an insane juxtaposition. I don't even know where to begin with that one.

Here is the key thing to me, as an American, about our politics.

Republicans have ONE consistent policy, that has been extremely consistent for about 100 years. Its tax cuts for the rich, less benefits for everyone else. Thats it. Everything else they do is an attempt to divide the working class so that enough vote against their own interests. They do a great job of convincing an IT professional making 100k year that they are in the top 1% - they aren't even in the top 20%. The way the tax structure is set up, taxes are highest for people making about 150k/year. After that, the tax rate goes down a lot. They got Joe Six pack convinced inheritance taxes were meant for him. They get away with it because the common person doesn't know what capital gains taxes are.

I am a Democrat because the Republicans since Ronald Reagan have been lying and saying you can cut taxes and it will "pay for itself" and not blow up the national debt. Its wrong, and since Ronald Reagan the national debt has absolutely exploded. Their goal is to blow up the debt so they can turn around and say "now we need to cut social security and other social programs." Its called "strategic debt accumulation." They refuse to do any tax hikes so they aren't serious about fiscal management.

With democrats, they tax and spend. But at least there are conservative democrats that are willing to cut spending. Obama was willing to cut social spending, and Biden just cut some. There is not a single Republican that is willing to raise taxes. Oh wait, I was wrong - they raised taxes on people making below 75k. Thats what the Trump tax cuts did btw. It was as temp tax cut for the working stiffs followed by a tax hike. The rich got a permanent tax cut! Yet they still attract working class voters because their spin machine is pretty damn expert. They've effectively won and are on track to attain their goal of repealing not just the Great Society programs, but also the New Deal programs.

Thats the real difference. The culture war stuff is a distraction. The US on on track to have massive debt problems and the US government in 2060 won't be able to do much other than pay interest on debt and pay for a military, with a much smaller safety net. This was the goal of the Republicans tax slashing and debt exploding. They'd rather have the US government paying interest to rich people than social programs for the less fortunate.

In the USA, we really don't have any "leftists." Those we call "leftist", or "liberal", or "socialist" are basically what people in the rest of the world would call "normal", or "centrist", or even "conservative."

Those we call "rightist" are essentially "fascists", or "reactionaries", or, in the case of "rightist" leaders, just plain "demagogues." The bulk of their followers are idiots who subscribe to a personality cult.
