What does this mean.

Went to my therapy session today and he told me that I have been reviewed and they are going to give me 12 months worth of therapy at least.

NHS uk

I'm not familiar with all of this.

Many, if not most, systems have some way of identifying when treatment isn't working and either cutting it off and or diverting the patient to a different treatment that might be more effective. It's both a waste of money as well as a waste of the patient's time to continue if the service isn't effective.

In your case, the review seems to indicate that it is appropriate and there is the required amount of evidence to continue.

Here in ‘murreca, it means you used up what little pittance of mental health coverage you bought from your carrier. When that happen, it’s “so sad, too bad. You might as well commit suicide.” Also, Louis B. Mayer’s dictum on mental health professions still holds true.

They're going to "give you" twelve months at least?
Does that mean for free?

This is a very good thing babybird.

Therapy costs a small fortune here.
My last trauma therapist was $255 / 45 mins.

Yes it's on the NHS so it's free.

That's so expensive

Yeah I was worried that I was gonna get 8 weeks and then my T said 20 and then he said he's looking to extend it and then he told me 12 months.

I'm gonna work so hard to get better as well. I'm not wasting this opportunity.

As I told him yesterday: This is like a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. I don't wanna be still on this roundabout in 5 years time.

I think if you still need it after 5 years it means the therapy is not helping.

This is not the case for you but in the US a psychological review could mean that the person is trying to qualify or requalify for some benefits or assistance due to being disabled at least partly for mental health reasons.

I've been in trauma therapy since 2009.
I was set back five years in 2020, back to 2015.

CPTSD isn't curable.
It's good to go for therapy though babybird because your needs will keep changing.
You'll be in a different place in five years, that's for sure.

Yeah I meant I don't wanna be going back in 5 years time.
