Final Instalment of Netflix's "Last Kingdom"

The final instalment of Netflix's Anglo-Saxon epic, the "Last Kingdom" was released on Netflix. The series are based on the popular book series "The Saxon Stories"

The lead actor who plays the hereditary ruler of Northumbria, Uhtred, Alexander Dreymon (who is German) also produced this final film.

The series has been quite epic and I've enjoyed the attempts at historical accuracy (probably appropriate to say it's loosely based on historic characters much like equally popular series "the Vikings")

The ending was quite sad and (without giving spoilers) it's suffice to say Uhtred played his fictional role in creation of a unified England

It never ceases to amaze me why with all this rich history, people descended from the British Isles (or Egypt?) are so invested in Hollywood to tell them who they are and what their identity is? It's quite dumb really.

Television is entertainment. It's not an education tool, If parents are worried about what their kids learn about their identity from TV then spend more time with them learning about their history and less time relying on TV/internet as babysitters.

Where did you glean this information from?

I'm a patriotic Welshman and I don't recall any Hollywood films teaching me my identity.

I could mention Zulu (1964) but it was inaccurate as the South Wales Borderers were not at Rorkes Drift.

Aimed more at Americans > British, but Hollywood is more pervasive in British homes > library in 2023, not to mention the internet. Don't British people watch Netflix?

I didn't think I'd have to explain Australian history to an Australian. You could be a descendant of one of the 162,000+ criminals Britain dumped in your country.

I do ancestry so I've been able to find crime records for larceny, rape, and probable murder.
It's not uncommon if you go back in your family tree.
There were good people too of course, but I'm sure we all have some criminal blood.

About 60,000 British convicts were sent to Virginia and Maryland too.

Oh, no I'm not one of those. My ancestors all studied in the rarefied atmosphere of British institutions and I come from a long line of academics.
