Oh for sure, most of my childhood and adolescence I would constantly quote movies and tv shows. Around high school age I started to social mask it away.

^ It's a meme featuring Inigo Montoya saying "You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means"

So I have deduced from this thread that it's safer to only use quotes with my husband and daughter who know what I'm talking about. And not use quotes with other people.

One time, what a faux pas I made. I watch Father Ted and there was an episode where they were talking about a boring priest, 'sorry, your voice is so boring that I didn't hear what you said'. I said that to a work colleague and she never spoke to me again. OOPS! So much for thinking everyone watches Father Ted!

You said that to someone?????
Who wasnt already your mortal enemy?????

I wouldnt speak to you again either...even if I HAD seen "Father Ted".

Yeah...I would say that you need to be more careful about "talking in quotes"

haha, well I was exaggerating somewhat. She did speak to me again of course, because we worked together.

That was one of the weirdest, nastiest workplaces I ever worked in, I still shudder to think about it 20 years later. But they could give it out but not take it. It's interesting how they thought it was fine to make fun of me and treat me like a general dogsbody, but if I made fun of them, they had tantrums.

It was that job I told them to stick it and left due to bullying, they had a high turnover of staff. Best decision I ever made, after that I got my dream job
