And there is a bunch of hate directed at the gay and trans community lately. So we should be allies to those people. We don't want to be the personification of 'first they came for them, but it wasn't me so I don't care till it comes down to me, but I think we should care before we are next on the list. we break the cycle of first they come for them and we only care once it comes for us. Like fascism never stops coming for people, to beat fascism we have to stand together with those people they are targeting. And tell them not today, we don't want it on toast, we don't want it with green eggs and ham we don't want fascism at all no matter if it is red white and blue flavored we still don't want it.

As a person who is queer on multiple accounts (NB, lesbian, ace, demiromantic), I love pride month but am afraid of it being dangerous to openly celebrate this year. I still want to attend a pride festival if I get the chance - I will not live in fear of bigots. I will not let them have that power over me.

The Pride Parade in downtown Spokane last year didn't have the usual cretins shrieking their homophobia. I hope they stay away this time, as well.

As far as I'm concerned, they can believe whatever they want, but I draw the line at their hystrionics when everybody else are there at the parade for a good time.

As I said in another thread one does not have to agree about the number of genders or what is appropriate at what age for children to be exposed to feel very frightened for LBGTIA people, especially the "T" part, and especially in a lot of states right now.
