What are your college majors and occupations?

If you could do it again what major and job would you choose?

I majored in English because I liked to read. It wasn't a great choice in terms of jobs. If I could do it over again, I'd probably go into some science-related field like zoology, perhaps. My background in science and math was appalling due to the fact that I was homeschooled. In high school, I only had "Basic Arithmetic," no algebra or anything beyond that. Strangely, I caught up and became a math tutor. Still, it would've been nice to know that I was good at math and science before going to college.

My ideal profession would be "student." Sadly, that doesn't pay.

I have an M.Phil in 19C Literature and Critical Theory.
I also have Degrees in Philosophy and Art History.

I taught at the A.P. and Uni level and was a Department Head.
I have some published research and was a TA / RA.

Prior to that I also earned a Degree in Education.
I taught Middle School Literature and Art for 180 students / day.
That was pretty crazy considering my ADHD.

If I had to do it again I'd want to be a Curator at The British Museum or BPM.

^ I find that enjoying/being passionate about literature and enjoying/being passionate about working in the field are two very different things.

I was a TA as well.

Never went through with applying for college. Despite taking SAT testing for that purpose. Executive functioning fail, I didn't know where to begin so I put it off til it was too late. Oops.

I don't think college is worth it for everyone, anyways. I would like to get some official art classes!

Agreed.

I'm glad I did it for financial reasons but now I'm just a pumpkin-head because of burnout.

If I did any Continuing Ed., it would likely be in Music.
I know absolutely nothing about music theory or playing.
That's crazy considering I'm surrounded by musicians all my life.

I don't know that I'd want to play anything though.
My hands are too busy stimming to play.
I just want to understand theory, or how to read and write music.

I think of it as another language.

There are some free classes available online through Yale, Harvard, and probably others which are pretty good. I do that sometimes. If I'm especially interested, I'll even buy or rent the textbook and pretend that I'm actually taking the class. I just don't understand why I can't be paid for this. It's clearly my calling.

I took some Yale Philosophy classes online a few years ago. Their Metaphysics dude is good. I can’t think of his name and I’m driving right now can’t check.

This course is on my to-do list. It's a philosophy class on death. It sounds like a bundle of laughs.

I also want to finish my class on the Old Testament, take one on the New Testament, and there are others on psychology, history, and languages I'm interested in.

Unless I became somebody else with different genetics, any difference of majors, finishing or not finishing college, difference in occupations, would be irrelevant, meaningless, since this defective body would still severely restrict what I could do and how long I could do it.

Degrees, and the kinds of jobs they got me:

No degree, HS diploma only:
-Shoe sales
-Pizza maker

Trade school - Automotive Service Technology:
-Mechanic, Audi dealership
-Mechanic, Cadillac dealership
-Apprentice / Journeyman marine technician

Associates Degree, Liberal Arts (primarily maths and sciences)
Associated Degree, Cybersecurity (incomplete)
-Research assistant, LED lighting manufacturer
-Assistant Store Manager, retail
-Assistant Parts Manager, auto parts retail

Bachelor of Applied Sciences, Organizational Management
Master of Business Administration (operations, strategy, analysis)
-I stopped working during my BAS due to covid restrictions, and I continued not working to focus on my MBA. I've only just recently finished, and have not picked my next job yet. Several local recruiters have sent me messages since adding these credentials to my business profile.

The only things I would change are, instead of cybersecurity I would have picked chemistry / chemical engineering, I would have focused on my studies a little more, and I would have started sooner.

^ What would you have liked to do with chemistry/chemical engineering?

I regret not focusing on my French more, but once again, it would’ve served no practical purpose. That’s a recurrent theme when it comes to my education.
