Vancouver has a reputation for people being cold and unneighbourly. I think it’s mostly due to so many long time residents leaving and newcomers coming - so people don’t know each other and get their guard up and avoid getting to know each other kind of thing.

Or they don’t speak much or any English. There’s also a high rate of single person households in the city. Solo foreign student condo dwellers that just go up to their suite and keep to themselves.

I can’t remember who or what country they were from, but I remember some immigrant talking about how they’d borrow sugar or eggs from someone in their village back home and commented that it’s not like that here.. lol yes it is - people here have done that for generations. You just don’t know your neighbours here that well yet.

This is a very English Village thing to do. Pop in next door to greet the new neighbors and offer the neighbors sugar, eggs and milk to help them settle in. The neighbors are also the first folk to invite you to the local pub where you get to meet the rest of the village folk over a pint and sampling the local "grub".

Warm Acquaintance With FACE-TO-FACE

As i Do A Slow Dance Walk Every Morning

And actually Talk to them on their Front Porches...

Considering, i Dance in Public, IT Should be Fairly Easy to See

General rule of thumb with strangers, neighbors and workmates
1. Don't talk race
2. Dont talk religion
3. Don't get personal
4. Don't talk about your boss

Hence long chats about the weather or price of bananas :lol:
