I, for one, welcome our new AI overlords.

Sorry Cyberdad, you know I have a soft spot for monsters. Go Skynet!

Yes QAI is just across the horizon.
Not all doom and gloom. Gawdat says there is a probability the machine will serve human's best interests so long the code is overwritten by the three laws of robotics

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

The third law is always a little sketchy....

I think the ideal scenario is like the movie Wall-E where the AI is benevolent and we humans become fat and bored because there is literally nothing left to do as AI robots do everything for us

Aren't humans fat and bored already?

I am very disappointed that robots are now writing books and doing art. I thought only humans could do those.

I think the only jobs left for us to do will be in the care industry. I can't see robots doing those jobs, but never say never.

I believe everything humans currently do will be replaced by AI/robots. Even sex.

Yes, all going by the plan. Humans will create their own ending, if left to their own means.

It's kind of inevitable. We will either:

1. Suffer another pandemic which is far worse than covid. If something like Ebola becomes airborne, we're fvcked.
2. There will be a big climate change event which devastates the Earth.
3. AI will make strides in becoming sentient, decide humans are inefficient and eradicate us.
4. Some dictator will flip his lid and set off a nuclear attack, destroying part or all of the planet.
5. There is always the possibility that actual aliens will turn up one day and take over Earth, you never know.

However, some good news. NASA can apparently detect, blow up or push off course any meteors coming our way, in a safe manner. So Don't Look Up is unlikely to happen. Yay!

But like I always say...if the asteroids dont getcha, the super volcanoes do!
And we cant do squat about super volcanoes.

I often wish someone "smart enough" and "wholly compassionate" or a group of like People, would do the "training" needed to ensure the AI "goes to work" and takes all the resources and wealth and such from the 1% and redistributes it to the masses... all in "silence", right under their noses. Making everything look "business as usual" until... BOOM... uh... no... that's a bad word choice. BAM! Most everything's fixed, and set up to ensure the ghouls cannot ever gain power over us again.
It. Could. Be. So. Easy.
lol

Could someone please explain to me what AI is? I know it's something to do with computers being smart, but otherwise I don't have a clue because I'm not into tech, or even news.

Right. But what is that, exactly?

Examples?

Examples of AI:

HAL in "2001: A Space Odyssey"

The machines in both "The Terminator" and "The Matrix"

Sentient "computers" and such. Not biological.

There a myriad other examples, I just cannot think of any more rn

Note, those 3 movies are fiction. lol

In reality, today, there ARE "devices", algorithms, programs, etc. that are coded in such a way as to not need Human input for the "AI" to perform a task. Much of the push to create these "entities" is develop them so they are able to "improve" themselves without Human input, or that input is secondary.

The movies are all horror movies, for the most part... AI gone wrong, very wrong.

Machines that can simulate human intelligence to make decisions, and learn, or perceive. Simple search engines are AI. Machines playing chess, software that can translate between natural human languages, algorithms to serve you recommended vids on Utube. I suppose the key is not just routine data processing but the ability to modify behavior with new data (iie learn) that makes it AI. Machines that can do surgery or fly drones and even dog fight in the air would be AI.
