That is according to an ex-Google programmer Mo Gawdat

By 2026 we might be completely overrun by ChatGPT or what is called Genralised AI (GAI) which are several giant artificial brains running concurrently via the internet.

According to Mo Gawdat the problem is the tipping point where the AI > humans in terms of intelligence and decides that it knows what is in our best interests.

Gawdat says AI like ChatGpt should never have been released on the internet as it is collecting data and will (within several years) be a megamind.

I can see this happening. See what I just posted too...

But how can that be when Armageddon is supposed to go down within the next 2 years?

Hey, I'm just the messenger!

People have been predicting The End of Life and Civilization As We Know It for over 4000 years.

I suppose they have but until now we haven't encountered a superior species of lifeform like AI.

Artificial Intelligence is neither superior nor a life-form.

What is intelligence, and what is life?

That is a question for PP&R, not for N&CE.

According to Gawdat, even a robot arm programmed by code to select items from a factory conveyor belt can develop consciousness. He says scientists underestimate the potential for a machine with access to big data and code to develop self-awareness and frameworks for consciousness.

According to Gawdat our brains follow complex code that are on verge of being replicated using large machines that can create even more complex neural networks with access to > data we use within our own brains

This has been predicted for a long time, now only when we are on the verge of creating a self-conscious AI we are coming to the realisation that we may be releasing a monster.

If you look at that other thread I started, the simulation of the drone deciding to kill its human operator, that is showing us the path this AI is already on.

Frankenstein anyone? No need for a real brain either. They just need the advanced chips for quantum processing, of which I am working on in my spare time.

Sorry Cyberdad, you know I have a soft spot for monsters. Go Skynet!

Yes, all going by the plan. Humans will create their own ending, if left to their own means.

It's kind of inevitable. We will either:

1. Suffer another pandemic which is far worse than covid. If something like Ebola becomes airborne, we're fvcked.
2. There will be a big climate change event which devastates the Earth.
3. AI will make strides in becoming sentient, decide humans are inefficient and eradicate us.
4. Some dictator will flip his lid and set off a nuclear attack, destroying part or all of the planet.
5. There is always the possibility that actual aliens will turn up one day and take over Earth, you never know.

However, some good news. NASA can apparently detect, blow up or push off course any meteors coming our way, in a safe manner. So Don't Look Up is unlikely to happen. Yay!
