I think it can be a little interesting to focus on ones that had unquestionable broad appeal opposed to personal types. We are basically doing that anyway.

This is a little dated but Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Brittany Spears, Pamela Anderson and last but not least Faura Faucett all had broad appeal to a lot of people.

Brittany Spears is just hot. It is funny to say it but she is an attractive woman. She was hot with her head shaved, and she is hot in the all the tabloid photos. She is hot, young, old, fat, or emaciated. I think she is hot every time I have ever seen her. I guess she is my type.

Jennifer Lopez was obviously the hottest dancer with broad appeal they could find for “In Living Color”.

The same goes for Pamela Anderson on Home Improvement.

They all take it up another notch. I am just throwing in Faura Faucet to be funny but she obviously had broad appeal.

I never got it. She always looked she'd be slightly sticky to the touch. Like a lollipop someone had licked and then left out to dry. She grosses me out a bit.

This thread is bringing home to me how hard I find it to separate physical appearance from character. I found Jennifer Lopez attractive in the movie Out of Sight, but not generally, not at all. So I must be responding to the character she played in that movie, before her body becomes interesting. When she's jiggling about on a stage in a tracksuit, singing a bland song, I couldn't find her less attractive, physically.

Pamela Anderson? No. I can't imagine having a conversation with her. I know that's not the point but that seems to make her less physically attractive, for me. It's interconnected isn't it?

Other than that, I fixate on details. Emilia Clarke, for instance, I've never seen her in anything but I'm aware of her and I really like her eyebrows.

You are right Pamela Anderson doesn’t seem to have the gift of conversation. I’d do her in her fifties with a frown on her face. Not really, but maybe. I just wanted to say something odd but yeah all wrinkly like an old man with a frown on her face maybe.

Physically I'm fine with anyone who looks healthy. Not too skinny, not too fat, not jacked. Athletic is good, but not required. I need to be able to fit my arms around her, but not feel like I'm going to break her. I've dated or been seriously attracted to a mix a body types.

There are aspects of physical appearance I care far more about than body shape.

What is her attire? Does her clothing suggest any common interests or points of conflict, or otherwise indicative of her personality? Pre-destroyed jeans, spike heels, or other nonsensical fashion choices? Foolish and vain. One-shoulder dress? Asymmetry revolts me. Low cut tops, tight jeans, short skirts, or other efforts to show off her assets? Shallow.

Makeup? The more she's wearing the less I'm interested. More makeup, more vanity. And it looks faaaaaake.

Tattoos? Quantity, quality, location? Personally meaningful or just treating your body as an canvas?

Lips, breasts, or other plastic surgery? Vanity and fakery.

What color is her hair? I don't care what color it is so long as it's her natural color, or looks natural. (Did I mention fakery?)

How long? Pixie cuts are a big turnoff. The only person who has ever made a mohawk work is Mr. T.

Piercings? Lips, tongues, gauged ears - all turnoffs.

My ideal woman dresses sensibly and modestly at all times. No piercings or tattoos. Shoulder-length hair, any natural color.

The first time I ever saw Britney Spears was her first album cover. I took one look at it and said "She's trying too hard to look sweet and innocent. That means she's faking it." I'm quite pleased about how right I was with that appraisal.

I enjoyed your post about the turn offs with attire and fashion.

I actually have a few of them and can relate.

I think tattoos can be ridiculous. I think some woman have them because they find them attractive on men and want the same appeal.

People definitely have different opinions. I am not a fan of plastic surgery. That can ruin some one’s appearance but it is like they don’t care. They like the thick lips and that is all that matters. They like the big boobs with no consideration that someone will ever touch them or see them unclothed.

I am not a fan of someone with beautiful hair dying it. I think maybe women that look like men could get a boost by dying it pink but if you are attractive already it seems dumb just to follow the fashion of ugly people. The reason someone dyes it pink is because they have no hope of looking feminine otherwise.

If someone has the most beautiful dark brown hair in the world it makes no sense to dye it especially if they are ethnic. It is like they are throwing their ethnicity away like it is trash. They should embrace their special beauty especially if it is extreme in my opinion. It is not up to me but that does not stop me from thinking it was a waste.

I think men are a little too quick to shave their heads too. That involves hiding ethnicity for multiple races. People don’t see it that way. There are people who are not even bald shaving their head.

Your post was more pleasant to read than mine I am sure.

You might think this, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily true.
Maybe they have them because they want them.
Maybe they're an artist.
Maybe the tatts are a memoriam for someone.
Most women don't filter their thoughts through what men like or do.
They make their own choices.

How do you know this? 8O

JimJohn wrote:

You know people's reasons for dyeing their hair? Most people I know dye their hair a colour that suits their complexion, or maybe it's a colour they really love. Some women dye their hair pink in support of breast cancer or other causes. Some do it just for fun.

Also, why does it matter if someone looks feminine or not, and why do you think pink represents femininity?
For centuries pink was a masculine colour, because it's a shade of red -- which represents bloodshed and war.

Everyone on the planet is ethnic.

If you mean non-Caucasian, are you suggesting people who aren't Caucasian should have different rights or options when it comes to "making sense" to you, compared to Caucasian people?

??! !

You're right, it's not up to you. You're free to like what you like but how can you say they're not embracing their special beauty? They decide their own special beauty, not you. There are no "shoulds" when it comes to other people and what they choose to do with their own bodies.

Hiding ethnicity? I repeat -- everyone on the planet has ethnicity and is "ethnic".
Are they hiding themselves from existence?

Why does ethnicity matter when it comes to other people's free will?

I forgot to mention eyebrows. I don't usually care much what a woman does with her eyebrows so long as she has real eyebrows. Someone women might lose their eyebrows due to chemo and perhaps don't have a choice, but for anyone else...ugh. Drawn on eyebrows look hideous to me.

My impression is that Lebron James popularized the "big beard, shaved head" look that has become popular among both black and white Americans.

I have a very short list of shoulds and longer list of shouldn'ts, which mostly apply regardless of gender. I also distinguish between "I don't personally find attractive" and "I think is wrong."

For example, I don't find tattoos attractive, but I don't think they're absolutely wrong. I do think face tattoos specifically are always wrong, and I also think people treating their bodies as a canvas (i.e. tattoos that are artistic rather than personally meaningful) is always wrong.

Maybe if I wasn't autistic I would not be prescriptive about such things. But as someone who has always been very concerned about rules and order, it seems nonsensical for me to then say "Here's what I believe, but everyone decide for yourself." Those wouldn't be rules; they'd be suggestions.

You're free to like or not like whatever appearance floats your boat. ^

That's different from posting reasons why women do things, and what they're thinking for their rationale.
It's also different from having different standards for one group of people over another.

I can have opinions why people do things. I clearly stated it was my opinion. It is true what I wrote about Brittany Spears. It is not like I came up with that on my own. It was a topic of conversation at the time.

Sometimes it is better to recognize something for what it is than bury your head in the sand. Basically, you all did not like my opinions.

Sure, some of my contents were in poor taste. I don’t really think my opinions about pink hair and tattoos are in poor taste. The reaction to that is just weird to me. It was just my opinion. My fault was saying the ethnicity word.

My post about doing wrinkly Pamela Anderson strikes me as crude but it does go along with the other post about not liking Britney Spears because she is sticky and not being attracted to people. It communicates a point and really how crude was that? It is not like no one has ever heard anything like that even children.

Personally, I'd be embarrassed to admit I was this judgmental over a potential partner's fashion sense.

It's the presumption of a person's motives for having fashion sense that isn't aligned with yours that comes off looking so badly.
