Well they don't show much individually -- they show a lot more in aggregate over hundreds or thousands of test takers. (Or alternatively if you personally take the test several times and aggregate your results.)

I still don't get how you can say this test isn't a personality test... sure there's a few questions that relate more to the core symptoms of autism, but the rest of them are more geared towards whether or not you LIKE to be around people, which many factors can influence.

As an individual I think you're going to get the most accurate result by removing any rational criteria you might have for liking to be around people. So for example, if the question is "would you prefer to go to the library or to a party", imagine that you don't know the people at the party and you're not really sure what kind of party it is and then make your decision. In aggregate over all the various test takers, NTs (most of them) would prefer to go to a random, who-knows-what party with lots of folks they don't know than go to the library, whereas AS (most of us) would prefer to go to the library unless we know who's at the party and what kind of party it is (which are all tied to rational decisions about preferring or not preferring to socialize with people we know or be around a lot of noise, etc.) Although the library is a controlled environment, you know what to expect, so you can't really eliminate your rational thoughts about why you might want to go to a library.

taken this test 3 times over the last 3 weeks and i've answered every time depending on my mood. I've scored 45, 44, and then 44 again. Even though i'm positive i give slightly different answers each time my score remains pretty constant.
I take the results from tests like this with a big pinch of salt, even so, my self diagnosis of AS has evidence piling up for it that i can't ignore. Let's just hope that the NHS don't make me wait too many years before they can confirm either way whether i have AS or not
