I remember the red wasp dare.We had an old time school bell on a pole and every summer red wasps made a giant nest in it.The dare was to ring the bell and run.Luckily for us stupid kids the bell was pretty high up so we had escape time.We sure harassed those poor waspers.

Someone at work brought in "the world's spiciest chips" (not that one). I tried one and they were a bit spicy but not that spicy.

These ones look f*****g hardcore!

Might be blue corn, might be dyed black to represent death (or both) - comes in a coffin shaped box, after all.

Spicy crap defeats the entire purpose of eating. Why bother?

Hard disagree. Spicy food is the entire point of eating.

Clear your sinuses and your a-hole? Spices are medicinal.

It's a ton of blue-green dye. People who eat these can prove it on video when after they eat the chip they stick their tongue out and their tongue is bright blue-green.

I used to sign wavers for wings - until my intestines said to themselves "You know, I think you're getting the wrong idea", and after that it lit me up at both ends.

I think if I ate one of these today my digestive track would write me a Dear John letter.

I am a big connoisseur of all things spicy, but even I draw the line at Carolina reapers.

In any case, the chips have been pulled from stores.

I told mother about this today and she told me that years ago there was a guy who have a chili cookout and invite people over but every year the chili just got spicier and hotter until was just too hot. Not hot enough to be really dangerous, but hot enough that you'd be on the toilet after eating it. But people still ate it anyway, because they didn't want to be seen as "wimps".

What is it with people and eating things that are so gross or unpleasant or even dangerous that the only reason to do so is that you can brag about it afterwards? If you survive? It's not brave or manly or whatever, it's dumb.

At least in the modern west status and status contests are the dominant preoccupation of the species.

Seth McFarland's A Million Ways to Die in the West makes a lot of jokes about that - in an 'old west' context.

Competition, winning, bragging rights etc.

Or sell em to high school kids out of the back of your van. Either way I am certain that you could get a huge mark up for the...forbidden chips.

A money making opportunity that we all missed. Darn!
