I hate change with a passion. Every time I try to change, it backfires and I'm right back where I started. I try to change to suit other people. There are times that I try to change to suit everyone else here on WP and 15 minutes later, I'm back to my old self. I hope that my psychiatrist doesn't try to change me. I'm going to have to tell her that I'm autistic.

Yeah, change is not my friend. I like things to be predictable, follow a nice routine and I can fall in line with that and just go from there. I'm pretty much the same person I've always been, doing the same things I've always done. I'm at peace with that. I like it this way.

My unrequested two cents.. don't worry about changing for anyone. You have to wake up every day in your own skin and your own life. You do you and be you. You're just right the way you are. I hope your psych person doesn't try to change you either. I think they do us a disservice when they pull that crap. So long as we aren't being a problem to ourselves or others, I say we should be true to who we are.

I'll be true to myself whether my shrink likes it or not.

It depends on the nature of the change.
Signing up for hockey was a change, but it's a change I appreciate.

I know this sounds shallow
I don't like people changing.
Once I knew this guy, his whole personality was cannabis. He was always high and zoned out, but he was hilarious at the same time.
One day he decided to give up dope and get into MMA (mixed martial arts) he suddenly became interesting, even if a bit aggressive
It was a good decision on his part, he seems happier and healthier, but it just freaks me out a little.

I don't know, maybe like, I don't like seeing people close to me making drastic changes in their life when I seem to be the same person I was in middle school.

I agree with the above post, if it's a change I volunteer for and it goes well I like it.

This is one primary symptom I don't have.

Outstanding. I'm glad to hear it. You know you better than they do. Self-advocacy can be hard, especially when dealing with professionals. I hope you can go in and speak your mind and be treated with respect and decency. It's awesome when you can get a psych who listen and be helpful and supportive. I wish you well in this. You got this.

I went completely berserk at my clubhouse yesterday afternoon waving the Union Jack around after nearly two weeks of not wearing my German style bike helmet. I was going around asking different members if they thought I made a convincing Englander. I was even shouting, "We are the Mods!" between performances at the talent show that we had yesterday afternoon. One of the other members told me to shut up.

Today it got to the point that I couldn't take it any longer. I put the helmet on and walked to the lotto store and I've felt a lot more sane since I got home.

It depends on whether the change is beneficial or detrimental

I desire change in my life because I have gotten bored with my usual routines everyday and want to experience love, dating, sex, marriage and independance!

I want a man I can snuggle and be close with

And I am slowly working towards that

But there is one problem:

My brother hates positive change and refuses to let me go all because he is afraid of having to live alone!

I don't know what to do?

I really don’t like changes, some changes are good, like buying different foods, I always buy the same food when I go grocery shopping. When my mom died over 10 years ago, I REALLY COULD NOT HANDLE IT, I shut down, I didn’t care about anything. I couldn’t understand what my family were doing. I was sooo badly grieving for 5 years.

Yes, it makes me look like a waning old man. My quality of life has drastically declined due to my unwillingness to make changes and being exposed to unpleasant situations for long periods of time
I have a poor appetite. Occasionally, I would hoard large amounts of food that I find satisfying and lose interest within a month. These are compulsive behaviors that manifest themselves in all aspects of my life.

I don't dislike change in theory. I actually like getting out of a rut and trying something a little different, but I don't find it easy to do. I have trouble thinking of different things I could do or think about or take an interest in, and it feels kind of unsettling.

I also find that trying to do something new makes me flustered and I am more likely to make mistakes, which makes it so I tend to avoid trying to do something differently.

Yes it depends on what the change is. If it's something that messes with my routines, then of course it makes my life more difficult - e.g. suddenly something I've come to depend on to be in a particular place isn't there any more, and that causes me inconvenience. I'm better about change when I can control when and how it happens, and when I can back off if the result starts to cause me problems. I do get bored with everything being the same all the time though, and sometimes an unexpected challenge can shake me out of a lacklustre mood, though I don't usually like the change at the time.

I don't mind change when I initiate it and I'm in control of it. But when someone brings on change that surprises me or change I can't do anything about, then I really feel unsettled. I may hide away and have a good cry about it.

Idk I hate abrupt changes, but also I hate things staying too much the same...like I think I have adhd and it conflicts with my autism...but I keep procrastinating on talking to a doctor about the adhd concerns.

I hate abrupt changes but I do like things to vary...idk those two things do not quite match and it even feels like I am stuck between them....like on one hand I want variation, but on the other hand I just wish things stayed the same and that I could stay organized but as it is now I may be able to be organized when pigs can fly which is never. Cause yeah my boyfriend is disorganized to...but so am I so its neither of our fault we just don't how to organize things good it turns out.

And I guess sometimes it looks more messy because we have our hobby station area out in the living room, with all the in progress minatures and stuff we're in the process of painting. really nowhere else to put that stuff because neither bedroom has a celling light so the only place with a ceiling light is between the kitchen and living room and helps to have that on when we do painting stuff. But then I have to remember that's not junk...it's art. lol. But aside from the art area idk we aren't great at cleaning...I have seen worse for sure but idk we do always still have a lot of clutter. Nothing like gross dirty just clutter.
