COVID vaccine - still worth getting?
Hello, everyone. When the COVID pandemic was a big thing, I didn't get the vaccine due to my fear of needles (last time I had an injection, it really hurt). After doing some research, I found out some ways to manage it that might help. Therefore, I am now considering getting it.
However, it has now been 4 years since the pandemic hit, and very few people talk about it anymore. Is it still worth getting vaccinated, or is it no longer relevant?
I just had Covid.
I got it from my mother who got it in hospital.
I gave it or something similar to my daughter who is immunocompromised.
My cat seems to have it too.
Another member here just had it with her mother.
It's still alive and kicking.
The new strain is called FLIRT.
Mine was pretty awful although not as bad as Omicron.
I'm still coughing up gunk two weeks after it started.
Personally I don't bother with the vaccines anymore.
I only ever had two.
It's up to you though, and your risk factors.

What a name for a strain of a virus!
Yes, if you haven't had it or been exposed, I think it is a good idea to get the 2 shot sequence, particularly if they say it works on the strain going around. They missed a little last time. Plus my exposure to diseased people is very low.
I'll shop on a timer if disease is going around. I'll zip in and out to get what I need. Or buy it on Amazon.
I'm a little more relaxed these days, but I zip around pretty fast on high heels!
They make a distinctive sound and folks get out of the way for me!
I did my first social double entendre a few weeks ago.
A guy got out of the way and was looking me over really good.
"Thank you" I replied! My timing was perfect! And yes, he had a female companion.

For a moment, I thought you said you could buy the vaccine on Amazon or in a shop!

I experienced serious side effects when I received two different vaccines within a short time period of each other way back in.... 2005.
And those were the last vaccines that I had.
I am still here almost 20 years later, God willing.

When I heard about the potential for a 'vaccine passport' scheme, I was pretty worried. I wasn't sure whether autistic people were exempt, so I was kinda like, "What do I do now?" But most of the things that they considered putting behind the vaccine wall were either big festivals (not for me) and places minors can't go anyway. Not sure whether the UK actually implemented vaccine passports and if they are still needed.

I generally avoid vaccines. Lord knows how many invites for various vaccines that I have received from my GP practice over the years, all of which I have simply ignored.
