Does anyone here agree that college is a much better place to find a girlfriend than say typical place of employment like an office?

Why would it matter to you?

You are neither in college nor at an office job. :?

Last place I worked when I was 25 the young women would not approach or talk to me. The older ladies like in there 50s or 60s would gossip with me in the office though

It all boils down to social skills, and approachability at the end of the day.

If you are autistic you likely won't have people in general, let alone women, as a male autistic, queuing up to talk to you.

I think it's more an age thing than a place thing

I think it’s typically a bit easier in college because there are lots of opportunities to meet new people/make new friends and you already have built-in things to talk about - classes, professors, stressful projects, midterms, etc.

People aren't supposed to hook up with colleagues.
Most places will fire employees for it.

I’m sure that it varies from country to country. Every place that I worked at had no rules against it.

Piggy backing off what other people have said above--I mean, I guess college would be a somewhat easier place depending on which circles you are in, and your approachability/social skills. With that being said, most women in college and out of college don't like being approached with inquiries about sex. It's very uncomfortable for most people to be cat called or harassed about their relationship status when they are just trying to exist.

Please don't go to a college with the hopes of just trying to find a partner/hook up... especially with the large age gap. People between the ages of 18 - 25 are still developing their brains.

As Isabella said, work is not designed to be a social place for finding partners/hook ups. There are often policies in regards to office relationships.

The title says “hook up” and the original post says “find a girlfriend,” so I’m a bit confused.

Definitely.

Sometimes people ask about another persons relationship status simply out of curiosity. I remember I did this to someone online a long time ago and they seemed to get mad and they thought I was asking with some ulterior motive, when really I was just trying to gather social information, without any real purpose or motivation.

Cat calling seems out of date and unfashionable in the current political climate, but it seems that there are men who still do it according to the reports of some female members of WP.

It’s when strangers whistle at you, hit on you without provocation, or make sexually suggestive remarks when you’re out and about. They often do it when they are driving, and you’re on the sidewalk.

Yes, and it's also worth noting that only a very, very small portion of the women that initiate contact with men are doing so for the purpose of being hit on. There are a lot of other reasons for the contact.

That being said, I haven't studied at an in person college in years, so things may well have changed. I probably would have done a lot better personally had I not had so many very specific issues with situational mutism at the time.

That’s true. I never initiated contact with men because I wanted to be hit on. I talked to them in the interest of friendship/being friendly. I had zero interest in hooking up since I’m more of a relationship kind of woman. Of course, sometimes friendships can develop into something more which can be true when it comes to meeting people at just about any locale.
