Are you guys happy with your life? And if not do you feel like you might be able to get to that point one day?
For me, I would say that I am not happy with how my life is. I am trying to work on that though, and am optimistic that I may get there one day.

I am not happy with my life, and to be perfectly honest, I don’t think I ever will be. I think that things can improve, but actually getting to a place where I’m happy with it seems unlikely. Of course, happiness is relative. Many people are and will be much worse off than I am. With that being said, I’m looking for peace and contentment more than happiness.

As the others have said, no. However I think that the question does lead to this answer- there is always something more our monkey brains “want”, whether it’s a new pencil or a meaningful relationship.

I am happy with what I have been doing with my life and am proud of the steps I have taken lately, which is perhaps more the true question which was being asked.

Happy tidings on your travels, stranger

I am at a point where I know that I am not happy and will not be happy with my life. If it has not happened in seven decades, after a river of self-help books, bad advice, and dead-end reform efforts, it is not going to ever happen.

Is this bad? Well, there is good news in that. Although I know it's not going to "work" that way, I don't care nearly as much as I used to. I managed to "get around" most of the obstacles that mattered. I managed to earn a living. It wasn't due to any help I got from, in general, others. There were a few people who were pivotal. It always was unexpected. Couldn't be planned.

At the moment the main challenge won't have any solution, either. I have plenty of money to support myself. At the moment, I can move and be self-sufficient. What will happen when I can't be? Self sufficiency has always been the only choice, and it remains the only choice. I don't have many health problems, so there's a good chance I'll end up in some warehouse with a bunch of neurotypicals and it'll be just like high school, but with no graduation date. If anyone has any suggestions for that, it might inspire me. You can't just burn the rest home down and take everyone with you. It's illegal, and messy.

I'm OK with my 'life'.
Just not content with 'myself'.

Not happy or unhappy.
I'm bored.

Not yet, I still live with my parents and don't have a driver's license. Hoping to change that eventually.

My life story? No, not at all.
My life as it stands today?
Yes it's pretty nice, all things considered.

I've definitely not been happy in the past (multiple hospital stays because of depression), but things aren't too bad these days. I could do with more money (more work hours). My life is pretty full and I'm not bored.

When I chose to get a formal diagnosis in my late 50s, this was one of the things I had in mind. In Britain, as well, the traditional way of looking after old people is to stick them in a care home with communal living and eating, and lots of social activities to keep them 'stimulated'.

There may or may not be anything I can do about that. But at least now I have an official piece of paper which says 'In James's case this is unlikely to be a good idea.'

I'm not too unhappy with it, I've had experiences in the past that made me a lot more unhappy. But life would be a lot happier if most humans didn't suck so much.

I am not happy with my "life" and I could not imagine that I will ever be happy with my "life", unless I significantly lower my standards/expectations.

reasons why I am not happy with my "life":
autism and precious lil "people" 's reactions to my autism symptoms
academic dismissal, and destroyed my occupational prospects.
chronic constipation
exhausted all the time
mentally slow
physically weak
socially awkward

plenty of things could make my "life" worse, for example, getting hit by a car. they could make my "life" much worse, immediate, permanently, and drastically.

not many things could make my "life" better.

Not at all. I lived 52 years without knowing who I was. I made a lot of choices only because I thought that they were right, not because I wanted. And now that I am becoming aware, I really don't know how to drive my life.
Deep connections with some people gave me moments of happiness and some hope, but finding and maintaining them is hard. So far, I lived masking. Now, I can't tolerate anything that is not authentic

I am not happy with my life and I will never be completely happy with my life.

No, I feel trapped in my own head and unable to reach out to others socially so WP is my only outlet really.

I have been on anti depressants for years now and feel desperate a lot but not suicidal. The alcohol may well kill me, if I go I hope its peacefully in my sleep at home and not in some grotty NHS hospital.

Have tried to get therapy but no luck so far.
