I heard this on the radio tonight. Quite embarassing.

It's likely she zoned (a lot of pressure on her) and didn't actually hear the question, and then just tried to BS a generic gobbledygook answer. (If that's the case, she would have been much better off saying "could you repeat the question.")

Hey, to be fair it was a difficult question to answer without being rude about her fellow countryfolk. And she'd probably been advised to fit in some PC stuff about South Africa somewhere, so she plumped for that.

She's hot anyway.

Without embarrassments like these, pageants are completely pointless.

I mean really, who cares what a beauty queen has to say about maps? Boring...

She should have said the Iraq..."teh Iraqs" for extra funny. Now that I think about it, a beauty pageant contestant using leet-speak would be very funny...

Sorry, folks, Miss South Carolina is not able to answer that question, since she probably wouldn't recognize a map if she saw one. It would have been much better if someone had shown her how to use her brain instead of this much makeup. No, that wouldn't have been so funny!
