Goths kinda resemble EMOs & vampires.

I never been part of any subculture but I do like some gothic things. I have a crystal skull collection. I also have a collection of knives/blades & other weapons & some are kinda gothic but I have more fantasy & fighting. I sometimes find gothic women very attractive but I find women of some other subcultures very atteactive as well.

As for as older gothic music, I really like Sisters Of Mercy & The Cure & there was a time when both groups were very popular within the goth scene. Some other gothic groups I like are Cassandra Syndrome, Concrete Blonde, Gothminister, Meat Loaf(some of his songs seem kinda gothic, especially with his singing voice), & Ghoultown(some would define them as gothic western).

You may be surprised when you click that link that you don't see the thread. That's because one of the mods on here one day was trippin' balls and removed it in a fit of rage. It's all a bunch of YouTube links to Depeche Mode songs and covers in that thread, there was never anything else in there, nothing to break the rules. Mods be mods.

Y'know, instead of making denigrating comments about moderation you could have just asked for the thread to be reinstated - which it now is; your quoted link is functional.

I have no idea why it was removed and since the thread in question was started in Feb 2021, I'm not inclined to go digging in the dusty basements and yellowing parchments of modland.


I'm thinking that this thread is better suited to the Art, Writing, and Music forum so unless there are objections posted here (or PM'd), I'll move it there soonish.

I loved Frankenstein in high school!! ! I felt so bad for Frankenstein's monster u___u.

OH I have that one on my list! I absolutely loved the haunted house book by Shirley Jackson (im spacing on the name right now). I have been struggling to find a free copy of We Have Always Lived in the Castle. Shirley Jackson is wonderful. I'll update when I get a copy!! !

Darkly inclined sounds like the PC term we'll be using to describe goths when someone decides you can't say goth anymore.

I'm a roaming Germanic barbarian with intentions of sacking Italian and Spanish towns. I also enjoy Bauhaus.

I'm pretty sure I'm closer to crusty stereotypes though, I listen to a lot of crust punk and grindcore and don't really dress like people who are going to a goth club.

From what I've gathered in the goth community, goth people use the term darkly inclined to refer to people who like the macabre and spooky things, but don't partake in consuming gothic music/culture. ฅ՞•ﻌ•՞ฅ I'm no expert though!

Here's a pretty good definition from Urban Dictionary:

"Darkly inclined refers to someone who follows a darker or spookier lifestyle, but isn't necessarily goth. Interests can include Tim Burton, Gothic literature or anything that creates a darker atmosphere, Halloween, music of a generally darker style and dressing alternative/darker fashion styles. Members of other subcultures can be darkly inclined, like metalheads."

I just finished Bram Stoker's Dracula! It was WONDERFUL ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ♡ ֶָ֢ ֗ ₊. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Mina Harker is amazing, I loved her so so much!!
