I've never gotten why people connect the 'scene' look to emo when it was almost entirely spawned by metalcore bands like Unbroken and Eighteen Visions (who admittedly stole their look from the nu metal band Orgy).

Meanwhile even into the 00s most of the stuff you could fairly lump together as emo tended to dress pretty mundanely.

Sasscore bands borrowed it, but it was already starting to gain mainstream attention by the time those bands started to embrace the look, those bands also (mostly) didn't get very popular so it's not like they were what normies had in mind when they said emo. Stuff like Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu and BMTH were already entering the mainstream when Daughters and The Number Twelve Looks Like You started to get attention.

Meanwhile if you look bands like Indian Summer, Jawbreaker, Heroin, Portraits of Past, Hot Water Music, Small Brown Bike, Pedro The Lion, Cap'n Jazz, etc they all dressed incredibly plainly in promo work and while performing.

I don't get how emo became the term we use for mallgoths.

Odds are he's reminiscing about seeing Christina Ricci when he was a kid.

Because for people who were age appropriate back in 1991, she was.

Of course looking at how she looked then now, she looks like a little kid, because she was.

But she's a pretty reasonable celebrity crush to have had for someone who's a few years younger than she is, at least so long as it's through that lens.

Ostra? Or Visi?


Probably more Frankish, Alemannic, Saxon admixture. That's the tribal makeup of most people of German extraction.

I just finished reading Dracula by Bram Stoker this week, and I looooved it. ฅ՞•ﻌ•՞ฅ

Mina Harker was by far my favorite character--I thought she was a great female lead. Without her insight, intelligence, planning, and transcriptions, I definitely think the party would have failed their hunting escapade.
