When I was a teenager I had a counselor that my parents forced me see that thought I was autistic, however I have never been tested for autism. Since then I have been so worried about having autism. Recently I got rejected for a different job and now I'm worried I got rejected because they think I'm autistic and I'm once again worried I could have autism. What can I do to stop these thoughts.

Maybe you can find out more about autism to try to figure it if it's something that applies to you or not. Either way you can put your worries to rest. If you don't think you have autism once you've learned more about it you can let it go. And if you do suspect that you have it, you can learn that it's actually okay and that it does not mean you're stupid.

Well, it may be a good idea to look into if you have autism or not so you know one way or the other. That being said if you do have autism it doesn't mean you're stupid.

It was my score on AQ that convinced me to get a formal Adult Autism Assessment. AQ doesn't give a formal diagnosis, but might give insight.

And don't forget that some folk with Autism have done reasonably well for themselves.

Whether you have autism is independent of your intelligence.

That said, folks with autism often have widely varying aptitudes. Smart with some thing and dumb with with other things.

I learned I'm not the only one with face blindness. I have great difficulty remembering faces.
I don't worry about it. Sometimes I can figure out who I'm talking to based on other stuff I do remember.
Or I can just ask! :D

Have you taken an IQ test before?

Face blindness: I try to be nice to folk because, for all I know, they are someone I already know.

I had a few IQ test done before but sadly each one has said I'm average. I suppose that's better than being below average, but at the same time would be cool to be a genius instead. Sometimes I feel I have all these great creative ideas but not enough brains to get them out. Well, maybe it isn't so much lack of brains as much as laziness. Still it kind of drives me crazy having all these ideas and not getting them out.

Careful what you wish for. Sometimes having a high IQ can become a burden. People will place very high expectations on you and are let down if you do not get them done for them. Many will try to take advantage of your talents for their own gain. It can lead to mistrusting others. You often face loneliness as there are few you can talk to on your level of thinking. That leads to inner frustration and depression. It is not a fun place to be.

Concentrate on your creative side and try to foster growth in that area. It may unlock doors that you never expected would open for you. That is my advice.

I'm a member of Mensa. My observation is that a high IQ isn't as useful as you'd think.

My guess is you might get further with talent. (I'm guessing. No personal experience there.)

Seems like everyone wants to have high IQs, and yet society puts so much pressure on everyone to be "normal" that people who do have high IQs usually hate it.

It doesn't help that I'm rather lazy. Often I'd much rather play video games then draw or write or other creative stuff. I've also been talking about this to others and they say to cut down on the video games which I can try but often I use video games as a quick way to distract my mind from things like loneliness. I live completely alone so sometimes I get lonely and it doesn't help my mood. I suppose if I can manage to get more into my creativity that can also distract my mind too. Still its hard getting over being so lazy.

Well. Yeah!

P.S. I'm 69. I'm not rather lazy. I'm rather old.

Well I'm 33 so nowhere near being that old and definitely still got a lot of energy in me. As a matter of fact feeling rather energetic right now. Others have told me in the past that I'm too energetic and also ADHD so I often worry about having that too. Trying to keep myself from worrying about that right now. I suppose it doesn't help that I somehow feel younger than I am like I'm in my early 20s more so than in my early 30s but that could be because I'm not married or have kids yet. Also most others tell me I look more like I'm in my early 20s than 33. My laziness isn't a lack of energy at all it's more so not wanting to put in effort and boredom. Somehow I also get very bored easily. I hope none of this sounds weird and like I got ADHD. Trying so hard not to obsess that I might have that as well.

You're potentially ASD and potentially ADHD?

Beware, they share some symptoms. It can get confusing.

Though being both is possible...and something that boggles my mind.

That I don't know for sure and I hate to think of myself in such a way.
