i useta think the fireworks was a surround sound high-fidelity audio and visual extravaganza, but my old man senses now see it as gross fkkking noise all around. but tonight i watched fireworks whose visual glare and aural blare were nicely filtered through a canopy of trees, good job nice trees! and it was a treat

It’s election day here in the UK which is quite exciting (not every year, just this year). There have been some puns in the newspapers about it also being Independence Day.
Yes it was much better for me than it would have been in the USA.
I enjoy the sight of the fireworks and the food. I do watch the fireworks in town from a distance with headphones and watch them on the local news from our closet news market city.
This year made it normal because it was observed on my day off and didn't disrupt my weekly schedule, but slightly different because there's no Mail delivery or newspapers, so that's what I don't like about it.

Americans are sometimes quite self centered in a funny way. I happened to be in Cannes, France, many years ago. It was July 4th, when an American struck up a conversation and asked if we celebrated 4th of July in Europe. "No, why would we?" I replied. He seemed to be really confused by that answear.
